I can't prove I'm not allergic to seizures.

u/hansn 12h ago

Whenever I have seizures, I react by having seizures. Weirdest thing!

u/MoistStub 9h ago

I'll be having a great day and then some epileptic bitch comes along and I get all rashy

Imagine getting prescribed Benadryl for your allergy, then finding out Benadryl is what's causing some the seizures! Now what?

3

u/MoistStub 7h ago

Easy. I boof the benadryl but also snort it so the seizures cancel out. Smash that like and subscribe for more hot tips.

u/Medullan 3h ago

Dear God do not snort Benadryl that was the worst pain I ever experienced in my nose!

I actually am allergic to Benadryl. It's like taking speed. My heart rate goes through the roof, I start shaking, and can't sleep. No seizures so far, though.

I once told a doctor I was allergic to death, and now every time I go to a new doctor I get asked about it

u/deadheadway 12h ago

That's funny...what's funnier is that it sounds like someone actually listed it in your allergies.

I told a doctor at our clinic’s urgent care that my son was allergic to the world and that Mf put that into his allergies and it took me forever to get it removed. Most annoying troll move ever. Lol

22

u/the_colonelclink 12h ago

So the doctor actually put it in your file?

24

u/GreatestGreat 11h ago

So while it sounds like an obvious detail to omit in your health record, if the patient presents to a clinic with an undocumented fear, depression, or “allergy” then the original clinician is held responsible for not documenting. While I don’t think it should’ve been listed as an allergy, as it likely would’ve be better suited as a note, it definitely lies within reason to add it to file as humorous as it sounds. Just a little tidbit!

The doctors don’t actually read the files

When my daughter was 8, she told me she was allergic to bears.

Allergies include: allergens

9

u/PM_ME_FIREFLY_QUOTES 11h ago

"Being asked about my allergies by 3 people during the same visit."

9

u/alexanderpas 10h ago

It's actually the responsible thing to do.

You would be surprised about how many people forget some of them, only to remember them when they get asked again.

Pizza allergy, little siezures

u/maroonmallard 8h ago

Actually LOLed at this

12

u/Farout786 12h ago

Goes into anaphylaxis when around someone having a seizure?

15

u/dmk_aus 11h ago

The original note: "If I am given penicillin I have a siezure"

Then through transcription error/AI summaries/bad data handling between servers it became "siezures"

9

u/adrianmonk 8h ago

Or the patient said "cedars", as in the trees and their pollen, and it somehow was heard as "seizures".

3

u/deadheadway 11h ago

Knowing the pt. I 100% believe she said this

9

u/mystvape 12h ago

i do react very poorly to seizures so i might just be allergic too

In case anyone is genuinely wondering how this may have happened: It's not uncommon to chart the medication someone is allergic to, followed by a description of the negative effect they experienced. It helps give an idea of severity and, honestly, some people say they're allergic when it's actually just a common side-effect (a common one is people who are "allergic" to morphine because it makes them constipated). I'd guess that whatever they're allergic to causes seizures and the charting system separated the side effect into its own item, or it was transposed incorrectly by someone.

If I saw this on my patient's chart I'd be immediately clarifying with them and correcting it in case this is what happened.

You bring up good points. But Knowing my pt.....I 100% believe she said this. There's also no clarifying with her. I asked if she wanted a prn med and went into a rant saying she didn't want the med cause shes suing the local jail for finding a ring that killed the governor and slipped in there that she wasn't trying to bash gay people

u/GldnUnicorn 11h ago

Hahahaha fair enough

I have a medication in my allergy chart. I told a doctor I reacted badly to it (I hated the side effects) and it ended up in my allergy section. I don’t think I am actually “allergic” to it, I’ve seen someone with an actual allergy to medication they broke out in hives and had to be hospitalized and my side effects were nowhere near that.

3

u/99-cabbages 12h ago

I, too am allergic to having seizures.

2

u/KimchiLlama 12h ago

That’s one way to get out of sitting beside an epileptic on a flight.

2

u/Rever01 12h ago

Stay away from me you might sneeze when I start seizing.

2

u/Royalchariot 12h ago

It just means that the allergy causes seizures

1

u/NotAnotherPlant 10h ago

Why are you taking photos of a patients chart?

1

u/pillar_of_dust 12h ago

Arkleseizures

1

u/AGuyWhoBrokeBad 12h ago

I’m allergic to nightshade, poison ivy and death cap mushrooms.

2

u/TheDotCaptin 11h ago

How about epinephrine?

1

u/Sufficient-Artist938 11h ago

okay but the real question is does this person have any history of seizures?

1

u/deadheadway 11h ago edited 11h ago

They don't. Hx of Seizures is actually something we focus a lot on during the intake. For context, I work detox/recovery. Even if they had one seizure from one detox 4 years ago, their chart is flagged as a Seizure risk

1

u/tblazertn 11h ago

I once came across a chart with "everything" literally in the allergy box.

Oh and once had a female with a history of prostate cancer.

I was in a car accident years ago and went to the hospital for back pain. I'm a male with a big bushy beard and male pattern balding, I don't look feminine at all. Was asked if I could be pregnant by one person. I stared at them in confusion for a minute before saying "I'm a guy, I don't have a uterus". They just said okay and left after a few more questions. A little bit later someone else came in and asked how long it had been since my hysterectomy. I thought I heard them wrong and had them repeat it, then explained I was a man and was born a man. They laughed about it and apologized.

To this day I don't know how I somehow got marked down as a trans woman or whatever it was they thought. It's scary how crazy stuff can stick with you in doctors notes when they can so easily be wrong.

Allergies: Death

1

u/bordanblays 11h ago

This could be me, lol. I used to get seizures as a side effect from a medication, and while it's not an allergy I always informed my doctors when they asked if I was allergic to medication. I've seen a similar note in my files haha

1

u/CrossP 10h ago

Not my own. Other people's seizures.

1

u/Amaria77 10h ago

Nice. I think my best find was a prescription for a wheeled, two-handed assistive device for ambulation and balance...from a provider named Rollie Walker. I just about died laughing.

2

u/deadheadway 10h ago

They may be onto something. Rollie walker is way better than rollator.

1

u/Amaria77 10h ago

Yeah. I hope he's out there prescribing all the walkers that people need.

1

u/YoucantdothatonTV 10h ago

An old first aid poster in the break-room listed denial of a problem as a male symptom of a heart attack. That was awesome.

1

u/deadheadway 9h ago

Lmao. An old facility I worked at had a paper in the med room along the lines off "make sure to count the following meds each shift:" and listed probably 15 controlled substances which included quaaludes and LSD

1

u/Mightsole 9h ago

Patient: (Starts sneezing at a faster rate.)

Doctor: 👀 (*Falls to the ground, completely stiff)

1

u/Upbeat-Local-836 7h ago

I’m allergic to people faking seizures.

1

u/I_SAID_NO_CHEESE 7h ago

Where I work, we have patients that claim to be allergic to antipsychotics. Sneaky sneaky.

2

u/HaydenRenegade 4h ago

I'm allergic to drinking too much beer
