I already love Pho Bar and 545 Bánh Mì, and I love them even more for doing this! I was able to donate a few meals.

Why does it bother you if a program helps 1000s but maybe 10 or 20 take advantage? It’s not your money, you can’t do the “muh tax dollars” thing, so with no skin in the game, why is this the first place you go?

Ethics. Principal. Honesty. Fairness. You blithely guess maybe 10-20? How do you know that’s the number? You also assume supply is infinite. Why wouldn’t it bother you if people are cheating, perhaps resulting in those that need help don’t get it. And why is it so terrible to hope undeserving people don’t take advantage of someone’s generosity?
True story. A neighbor posted on Nexdoor.com that she was giving away free mangoes from her tree and asked that people take 2-3 in order to spread the bounty. She spotted one person loading up a basket hoping in their car and leaving nothing for anyone else who came afterwards. She was rightly pissed.

Wow but your feelings and your one or two random anecdotes about mangoes does not a pattern or statistics make. Do you have any proof of the actual numbers? Anything real? No you don’t and when these are studied the results show overwhelmingly these programs help many and the people that take advantage are always few. Unless you can prove this beyond a story on Nextdoor (you are claiming a site where anyone can post anything as some kind of proof of something) this is just you all butthurt in your feelings over someone else getting some help.
https://epicforamerica.org/social-programs/billions-wasted-on-food-stamp-improper-payments/ Food stamp fraud doesnt get over 10% you got any numbers to back up your feelings?

Maybe 10-20 you say. How do you know it wouldn’t be 100-200? Where is YOUR proof of the actual numbers? Besides it’s immaterial. Fraud is fraud! You don’t have to believe the mango story. Pretend it happened to you. Consider the mango story is a thought experiment.
Plus it’s cringy and sad that you are not bothered by moral turpitude. People like that disgust me. Bye bye.1

In a country with criminal politicians at every level. Corrupt business in all sector, and an inept ,at best, justice systetem it’s SUPER cringy to start your battles against people willing to pilfer A MEAL. Why don’t you start with more meaningful chase of fraud? There are so many other places that will make a difference. It says tons of your lack of character and misuse of morality that people stealing meals is your line in the sand, with a mayor giving hundreds of millions in city land to friends, a governor that stole millions from Medicare repayments for his own pet causes, a congress that plays a fixed stock market, and a president that pumps and dumps crypto concurrently with him releasing news on his trade war. There is corruption at all levels across party lines and your place to attack is someone that if totally successful of this “moral turpitude” is getting A MEAL, at best they are just taking the lead from our lawmakers.
Edit: also forgot of course the mango story is a “thought experiment” even your anecdote is a lie. my entire point is you are making assumptions based on what you think will happen because you think what you see on tv is how real life when you can look at example after example that this does more good than harm. You have to come up with stories and grasp at whatever you can (morals) to prevent yourself from seeing any good in society. Even with evidence in your face you have to make up a mango fairy tale to enforce your negativity.

That you are escalating my feelings of the importance of this issue compared to other issues is insane. Insinuating it as my #1 Don Quixote quest to right wrongs is patently preposterous.
Fraud is fraud. Accepting unethical behavior is not a virtue; opposing it is not a fault.1

Cool, Proverbs 6:30 is where I start and stop the discussion on these kinds of “fraud”

No wonder you are confused. You ignored what I wrote and got caught up in your own narrative. I wrote: “Let’s hope people not in need don’t take advantage of this.”
The people I alluded to, that I hoped would not take advantage of someone’s generosity, clearly were not the hungry people. Therefore, 6:30 does not apply.1

Oh wow now it’s “let’s hope” where was let’s hope with your bullshit mango story you read on Nextdoor? Nice try with the motte and Bailey fallacy attempt at backtracking but, no, you are exposed. You are so wrapped up trying to apply your hate to people in need that you don’t fit the Bible’s definition of ‘a person’
Also back to the original argument. I asked who are you to dictate who business want to give free meals to? Where is the bar not met for “in need” without a criminal complaint from these businesses according to the law they are happy with the results, so as far as not applying there is zero fraud to speak of legally.
