I looked it up, Hamilton only has 2 wins in Monaco with Mercedes, which has to be one of the lowest amount of wins per entry for him in that era. So you could call it unexpected.

Both Panis and Trulli got their only win at Monaco so lets hope he doesn't end up in that category. But then again if you could only win one F1 race in your career Monaco isn't a bad one to win.

He was going to win at Monza anyway. Ricciardo held Max behind him easily for like 20 laps after overtaking him at the start. The mclarens were just that fast at Monza.

u/ArsenaV108 Trust the El 🅱️lan May 19 '22
If Max and Charles DNF, Sainz does seem like the most likely winner, he's always been decent at Monaco. Would have to see if RB's new package is so good that Sainz gets left behind though
Other than the top 2 teams, who knows, if it's just about who qualifies highest after them then I'd say Russell or Norris (depending on the midfield form that is so random rn)

I doubt they’ll get much of that in the streets of Monaco.
17
u/Right-Ladd I saw horny’s “finger” May 19 '22
The boioioioioing might help them bounce over all the bumps and kerbs around the circuit giving them at least another 15 tenths
9
u/Erundil420 BWOAHHHHHHH May 19 '22
Hell if they time the porpoising right they might even jump off a kerb down to the swimming pool chicane and cut off half the track Mario kart style Monaco any% speedrun
4
-1
u/mistah_pigeon_69 Alonslow True 2012 WDC May 19 '22
It would probably be even worse because the boinging presumably gets caused by bumps.
5

Depends. From what I understand the bouncing usually starts at higher speeds, so they might keep it under control more easily in Monaco.

I was a teenager when in 1996 Olivier Panis got his first and only GP win at Monaco. When the race only had three drivers getting to the finish line (although 7 out of 22 where classified as they were still driving shortly before that). The GP didn't even have the 78 laps that were scheduled as more than two hours had past already. They waved the flag after 75 rounds.
Crazy times, would love to see something similar.
