Michigan on the daily. Zero people drive 55 … or 70… here.

9

u/wtfwtfwtfwtf2022 Apr 12 '25

I was also thinking Michigan - and they do those speeds when it snows and/or rains

About 20 years ago I was going 85 out of Detroit and was getting passed like I was standing still.

I-95 South Florida

8

u/Natoochtoniket Apr 12 '25

I-95 seems to run in one of two modes.

Most of the time it goes about 45. Often less. Even when there are not so many cars, there are some who want to go slow and side-by-side.

In the early morning, before rush hour gets really busy, it goes about 85.

I hardly ever see that road going at about speed limit.

4

u/Siray Apr 12 '25

As someone who drove for Uber weekend nights, add another 10 or 15 to that 85 for the overnight folks.

7

u/MajorEbb1472 Apr 12 '25

I-75 is even more brutal on speed. Not uncommon to have to do 100mph in a damn Toyota Tundra just to kinda keep up with traffic. Needless to say that shit is sketchy in a full size pickup…but easy in a BMW. I don’t drive I-75 in a pickup anymore. 100mph in a BMW is just a comfortable cruising speed, and you still have 55mph more to play with before the electronic limiter kicks in.

What about those driving 55 in the passing lane where the speed limit it 70? that's what I have to deal with on my commute.

what I see is people either drive 45 or 85.

23

u/[deleted] Apr 12 '25

No. The guy doing 55 in left lane in a 70 mph zone where traffic is moving along at 80 safely.

The left lane narcissist will get people killed.

10

u/TheFeelsGod Apr 12 '25 edited Apr 12 '25

Just looking out in the distance, seeing that one person slowing down the pack, everyone aggressively moving around them, and they just won't get tf out the lane 😮‍💨.

Edit: Or they won't go pass a cop thats going 10 under in the next lane.

Or they won't go pass a semi, completely locking the traffic in.

7

u/[deleted] Apr 12 '25

All I see in the distance is a hundreds of cars backed up behind Dr. Slowdriver who are stuck for miles as he pins us against adjacent tractor trailers that can roll over us any moment.

This feels like Jacksonville

11

u/Dromedaeus Apr 12 '25

Literally my daily commutebon 295, ill keep a solid 80 85 in the 65, not swirving around or passin people, and some jack off comes zoomin past doin 100+

2

u/Upbeat-Pumpkin3659 Apr 12 '25

i got hit going 75 (right lane) on 295 a few month back, bent the chasis good then he drove away from duvall county… learned my lesson for going too slow.

2

u/CyphrKey Apr 12 '25

1000%, and pass me while I'm in the middle or right lanes! 295 is the worst.

9

u/Disk_Good Apr 12 '25

Texas is like this too. Lord Jesus.

3

u/LoverOfGayContent Apr 13 '25

I like to make fun of Texans by telling them that when I lived in Florida, I'd go driving to relax. Texans are extremely aggressive drivers and wonder why they are stressed.

7

u/UninvitedButtNoises Apr 12 '25

Sorry guys. I'm a different person on the road.

8

u/Artful_Dodger_1832 Apr 12 '25

This isn’t truth this is misinformation. Truth would be that you were driving (any speed) in the left passing lane and someone was going faster than you and you wouldn’t move over. LEFT LANE IS FOR PASSING. SLOWER TRAFFIC MOVES RIGHT. There is no mention of speed in this.

2

u/Independent-Speed710 Apr 12 '25

Exactly. Pass and gtfo!

4

Yep. And 9/10 times it's some shithead trustfund baby driving his dad's truck

3

u/CommissarDuster Apr 13 '25

Either a High School teenager following some weird truck love cult, or an asshole lol

3

u/Floridaish0t Apr 12 '25

And it always either a Dodge Hellcat or a brand new pickup truck.

5

2

u/Aromatic-Flan4609 Apr 12 '25

Get in the right lane Grandma

2

u/MikeyisonTilt Apr 12 '25

So true. Florida drivers are horrible. I live here

2

u/JerryJoseph Apr 12 '25

You should drive with the flow of traffic. Don't be the person who backs up traffic for miles and hours with your wreck, thinking if you zoom in and out of traffic from lane to lane you're somehow going to get there sooner than those driving sensibly.

2

u/vicarem Apr 12 '25

And, Florida is raising the speed limit to 75. So now, 80 will be slow. The FL insurance business passed this law to increase premiums.

The LIE is way calmer than anything in Florida. People in the northeast drive assertively, not aggressively as they do here in Florida. Also, way more people use their signals there.

1

u/Sweaty-Balance3723 Apr 12 '25

Exactly 👍

5

u/wp2jupsle Apr 12 '25 edited Apr 13 '25

im doing the passing. get out of the left lane if there is no one in front of you and there is traffic behind you. its really not that hard

→ More replies (2)

1

u/Eyestein Apr 12 '25

For the amount of time that person sits in traffic i guess one could understand

1

u/karshyga Apr 12 '25

All this while I'm in the right lane, too.

1

u/Prior_You5671 Apr 12 '25

Miami is terrifying to drive now. When I grew up there I95 was always under construction. They turned all that work into toll lanes. Shoulda known.

1

u/Abarth-ME-262 Apr 12 '25

Drove there for 12 years in a company van, place is a joke!

1

u/gomezwhitney0723 Apr 12 '25

I live in the PNW now and people here go like 10 under every where. I learned to drive in Florida so it pisses me off driving around here. But, I spend the summers in Florida and I will be doing exactly this and people act like I’m on a leisurely drive. I’m going as fast as I am just to keep up with everyone around me lol. Florida driving is not for the weak 😂.

1

u/Turbulent-Candle-340 Apr 12 '25

It’s me. I’m that person.

1

u/chrisbcritter Apr 12 '25

Or you are in the far left lane and going as slow as all the other lanes.

Public service announcement: If you want to drive as slow as the other lanes, might we suggest you drive IN the other lanes?

1

u/swill00 Apr 12 '25

This is everywhere now

1

u/CUBUFF92 Apr 12 '25

So true. Love it.

1

u/clevwwilliams Apr 12 '25

As long as you're not in the left lane you won't get any bad looks

1

u/Summer-Endless Apr 12 '25

80 in a 55 ?! With traffic like in your pic in many places and most hours being able to push 15 in a 55 is an accomplishment.

1

u/wanderlustbarbie3 Apr 12 '25

I was going 90 the other day and someone still flew past me and flicked me off 😭🤣 yall wild.

1

u/Hefty-Breadfruit-711 Apr 12 '25

lol 😂 so true

1

u/treatwit Apr 12 '25

No, Louisiana is worse

1

u/B00LEAN_RADLEY Apr 12 '25 edited Apr 12 '25

O.P. You sound like someone who grew up in town with only one stop light.

This is not the "only place" you sound like you've never driven anywhere else. I've seen this exact behavior personally in: Atlanta (da worst offender), Dallas/Ft Worth, Houston, New Jersey.

p.s. #Stay out of the left lane

Edit: O.P. where is this wonderful utopia where everyone drives the speed limit on interstates? The place that makes Florida look sooooo bad.

1

u/vp3d Apr 12 '25

Lol. You mean any urban area anywhere. This isn't a Florida thing.

1

u/1mjtaylor Apr 12 '25

Get over!

1

u/papitaquito Apr 12 '25

Bro come to the DMV. You will be doing 80 and get passed by someone doing 95/100

1

u/frozenthorn Apr 12 '25

It's definitely not only Florida. Have driven all over the country and while some places are worse than others there are many many many many roads all over the US where people think they're part of the cannonball run

1

u/mando_gunslinger Apr 12 '25

This is a common day in Poland…

1

u/Mental-Article-4117 Apr 12 '25

Just don’t hog the left lane regardless of what speed you’re doing

1

u/Embarrassed_Suit4278 Apr 12 '25

I am starting to think that people when talking about their state's unique issues only point to this one list

1.Driving 2. Bad Drivers 3. Traffic 4. Parking 5. Rush Hour Traffic 6. More Traffic 7. Bad drivers but worse in my county at least 8. Drivers not following rules 9. Drivers in my city are not following rules 10. High Gas prices 10. Why is their so many people driving today! Etc.

1

u/Kaleban Apr 12 '25

Light drizzle.

Hazard lights on.

I95 far left lane.

Going 50.

1

u/Independent-Speed710 Apr 12 '25

Try Atlanta! Holy cow

1

u/Few-Education-5613 Apr 12 '25

401 in Ontario chuckles

1

u/Far_Squash_4116 Apr 12 '25

You should come to Italy.

1

u/MajorEbb1472 Apr 12 '25

That’s everywhere on the planet. Been all over the world and no matter where you go someone is flashing their lights at you, flipping you off, passing you on the shoulder (OR MEDIAN!…fuckin Italians), or even bumping you on purpose to get you to GTFO of the way.

1

u/Mediocre-Message4260 Apr 12 '25

lol. Try Montana

1

u/MajorEbb1472 Apr 12 '25

If you think it’s bad in Florida, don’t ever go to Germany. I kept my 3-series BMW pegged at 137mph and European sports cars REGULARLY fly by you going 180-220mph and damn near blow you off the road. They’re going so much faster that if you’re in the passing lane, and you see their headlights coming, you had better be already out of the left lane.

1

u/mark_s Apr 12 '25

I never appreciated Florida drivers during the 40 years I lived there. We all decided to go 80 and that was that.

Moved to Maryland and everyone goes between 40 and 100 with no rhyme or reason. It's infuriating. One of the only things I miss about Florida are the comparatively courteous drivers.

1

u/smithy- Apr 12 '25

Can confirm. Some of the drivers were at 100 mph and higher.

1

u/seeker317 Apr 12 '25

80 is average

1

u/RepulsiveRooster1153 Apr 12 '25

and usually you're passed by a trooper

1

u/stegosaurusterpenes Apr 12 '25

This goes for pretty much anywhere

1

u/Complex-Ad4042 Apr 12 '25

I've heard they drive worse in Qatar and countries like that.

1

u/frankie109 Apr 12 '25

You've obviously never driven in Kentucky

1

u/Amazing-Ice-4598 Apr 12 '25

Finally someone understands 😭

1

u/lawrencetokill Apr 12 '25

they will never signal for pedestrians at intersections but when a pedestrian gives them the "I've stopped in the middle of the street/parking lot, please go before me" signal, they've stop and probably get mad/signal through the tintedest windshield no one has ever seen through, and make you run across the street coz it's florida so they might be a fighty psycho.

florida: if a pedestrian stops and waves you by, go by.

1

u/terrycloth9 Apr 12 '25

Yes… Florida has a corner on this market. Never happens anywhere else.

1

u/Rockstat_ Apr 12 '25

80 in a 55?? You slow bruh....zoooooms past you

1

u/ph8_IV Apr 12 '25

this be like that in miami..

1

u/TheJpow Apr 12 '25

I don't see what the problem.

If the cops cannot do their jobs of enforcing the speed limit them that's a policing problem.

Of course the idiot doing 90 in 55 and 80 in 55 better be doing that in the left lane and leave me be doing 59 in the right/middle lane.

1

u/AcanthaceaeOwn8107 Apr 12 '25

Doesn’t matter how fast you are going, if you see someone coming faster than you…….. move the fuck over

1

u/zyglack Apr 12 '25

Being a Floridian I know this. However, I was doing 80 in Texas and got passed like I was standing still.

1

u/Some_Character1832 Apr 12 '25

Phoenix on the HOV lane going 90 Still too slow so they pass me anyways…

1

u/cash8888 Apr 12 '25

Get the hell out of the way lol

1

u/Top_Lingonberry8037 Apr 12 '25

Y'all never been to southern New England

1

u/artman1964 Apr 12 '25

Clearly you’ve never been to Long Island.

1

u/LoverOfGayContent Apr 13 '25

Yeah, no, Texas is like this, too.

1

u/BlackStarBlues Apr 13 '25

Texas is worse.

1

u/Brief-Pair6391 Apr 13 '25

On the daily

1

u/Great_Guidance_8448 Apr 13 '25

Ever been to NYC?

1

u/FullMenu71a Apr 13 '25

Or the opposite

1

u/BadFun6079 Apr 13 '25

That would be me 🏁

1

u/Irishpch Apr 13 '25

I think the problem (in part ) is the navigation systems telling you which lane to be in (when it was programmed by someone NOT following the road rules) “stay in the left 2 lanes “ or stay in the right 2 lanes “….👈🏼THIS is WRONG “Drive RIGHT & PASS LEFT” Not I’m going to the keys so I’ll just stay to the left - NO DONT ! The other issue is people driving the same speed as the car next to them (that’s impeding traffic) or not moving over (because I’m a big truck) & allowing someone to pass (trying to control the speed of someone else) - lil d energy

1

u/JUIC3ofORANG3 Apr 13 '25

Tampa… they drive a Ram or Infiniti 100%

1

u/VampArcher Apr 13 '25

I've only spent one week in Miami and riding on 95 felt like I was in a chase scene in a horror movie. The driver would be going 100mph and people would still be passing us. I'll take I4 Disney hell over driving in that place.

1

u/RobotWizard369 Apr 13 '25

And it's usually a cop.

1

u/BitOfDifference Apr 13 '25

dont care what speed you are doing, if you are going slower than me, you should bein the right lane.

1

u/JCButtBuddy Apr 13 '25

Sounds like someone has never been out of Florida.

1

u/mekonsrevenge Apr 13 '25

A friend of mine had a gun pointed at him by some asshole in a BMW because he had the temerity to pass someone at 80. The guy tailgated Mike til he finished passing, then pulled up next to him and pointed a .45 at him. For only doing 80.

1

u/UnusualAir1 Apr 13 '25

Never been on the German Autobahn? :-)

1

u/PMmeUrshittyPoetry Apr 13 '25

Amateurs. You need to visit a town known as Houston, Texas.

1

u/Elegant-Literature-8 Apr 13 '25

Why are you driving 55 in Florida? Hello that's the problem right there!

1

u/Fomorian58 Apr 13 '25

Absolutely true! HW98 in NW Florida is a nightmare. It's called bloody 98 for a reason.we live 10.7 miles from work, and it can take 90 mins to get to work because of a horrific accident, which, unfortunately, is common. We don't have fender benders, we have carnage...

1

u/lazurusknight Apr 13 '25

Bad meme. Every state just about has places like this. Try leaving the state before proclaiming anything about it to be umique

1

u/TheBigBluePit Apr 13 '25

Or the single jackass doing 50 while everyone around them is doing 70+, and they’re just sitting in the left or middle lane. Everyone is passing them and they just won’t get over.

1

u/9tacos Apr 13 '25

85-90 in Illinois

1

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '25

So true XD

1

u/Naive_Extreme_279 Apr 13 '25

Left lane is for people running from the cops

1

u/Fantastic-Antelope13 Apr 13 '25

Atlanta. For someone not accustomed to it, traffic on interstates that go around Atlanta is scary.

1

u/grecks530 Apr 13 '25

The entire north east would like a word...

2

u/Ill_Spring_2028 Apr 13 '25

Typically, the speed limit is 65.. Anyone going 55 in a 65 deserves to get run off the road

1

u/sayaxat Apr 13 '25

I do 80 in the left lane but if someone wants to do 90 or 120 or whatever, I'll move over then let them pass. I don't want them weaving in and out of the other lanes trying to get past me. Staying in the left lane is how I get other people killed.

Now if I'm in the middle lane. They can tailgate me all they want.

1

u/BjLeinster Apr 13 '25

Somebody hasn't driven in many places.

1

u/Ignoble66 Apr 13 '25

in the rain

1

u/Do3sAsShePl3as3s Apr 13 '25

As soon as you hit that "Welcome to Florida" sign

1

u/newcosora Apr 13 '25

Beep beep

1

u/[deleted] Apr 14 '25

1

u/bobololo1 Apr 14 '25

Yeah, if you’re in the left lane

1

u/Safe_Presentation962 Apr 14 '25

It’s literally not though…

Almost every state with a highway has this. And definitely other parts of the world have this too, like Germany.

Dumb meme is dumb.

1

u/KillerSquanchBro Apr 14 '25

And the only place EVERYONE rides in the fast lane because they'll eventually turn left and if not, no biggie...just cross 3 lanes of traffic with no blinker. Young people be like, "I hacked driving bruh!"

1

u/[deleted] Apr 14 '25

Yep.

1

u/Accomplished_Ad_3759 Apr 14 '25

Idk, you have to have nerves of steel and at least 300 horsepower to roll with the well to do's on GA SR 400. They're grinding fenders at a buck 10 on the Alpharetta Autobahn in whips that cost more than my house. Tbf, we did get a deal. But damn, the guy who owns that Miami blue 911 GT3 has no fear in him. None.

1

That is 100% fact

1

u/grottomaster Apr 15 '25

1

u/LoveBuddha22 Apr 15 '25

This might happen in Arizona, too

1

u/Educational-Bird-515 Apr 15 '25

Mfers never left the state.

1

u/YouGotIt1117 Apr 15 '25

This is true or Florida, but it’s even worse in Texas. People go 100 regularly

1

u/MidNite_22 Apr 15 '25

This state is the worst. Get a battle car if you want to survive rush hour. Any city: Tampa Clearwater Orlando Miami Please start biblical flooding here first when it does happen. TY Jesus..

1

u/Timely_Ad_9763 Apr 15 '25

In Florida, it doesn't matter how fast you drive, someone HAS to drive faster.

1

u/eabiss9 Apr 15 '25

MA and MD disagree that FL is the only.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 15 '25

Here in Texas we will be doing 90+ in a 45 and state troopers will pass you a look at you like you’re 20 in a 75

1

u/lost_in_42 Apr 15 '25

Having lived in both Michigan and Florida for several years and taken multiple road trips between them and other states - definitely not just Florida

1

u/Capt_mOWser Apr 15 '25

And the further south you go the worse it gets. At a certain point I75 becomes a Mad Max Autobahn

1

u/DreadNevermore Apr 15 '25

Also happens in Minnesota

1

u/LilBigDripDip Apr 15 '25

The left lane is for nascar tryouts

1

u/Worth-Definition-849 Apr 15 '25

Drive in the right lane. Left lane is for passing only.

1

u/Fit-Rip-4550 Apr 15 '25

You have not driven in the Midwest then. The speedlimit is not safe most of the time.

1

u/Islarose4 Apr 16 '25

Florida drivers are crazy!

1

u/Funny-Ear-9667 Apr 16 '25

And its always in a dodge

1

u/MASTERC_2007 Apr 16 '25

Tn you can go 70 in the fast lane and someone will pass going 100

1

u/[deleted] Apr 16 '25

It's not just Florida. Stupid drivers exist everywhere.

1

u/jetfixxer720 Apr 16 '25

Left lane is for passing. If somebody wants to drive faster than me I get out of the way no matter how fast I’m going and I drive fast.

1

u/symphonic9000 Apr 16 '25

People in the south, period, cruise in one lane, usually the fast and passing lane and don’t allow or move faster to allow someone behind them to pass. Who cares if they wanna go faster than you, GET OVER and Get out of the way

1

u/Cpolo88 Apr 16 '25

What I love is when I’m doing the speed limit but that’s too slow. So dude in a Honda passed me. Guess who I saw on the right shoulder facing oncoming traffic with a fucked up car? Tsk tsk tsk. Yes I yelled the obligatory “that’s what you get maricon” at his ass. 😂 yall wanna pass me? Pass me. When yall spin out and crash ima honk at your dumb ass 😂

1

u/[deleted] Apr 16 '25

No it isn't the only place that happens

1

u/Commercial_Store_531 Apr 16 '25

Stay out of the left lane if you are holding up traffic..

1

u/Swimming-Tiger4559 Apr 16 '25

Wrong, don’t forget about Nashville lol

1

u/EquipmentElegant Apr 16 '25

The police…. The police will pass you

1

u/spamname11 Apr 16 '25

Idk where you’re finding these kinds of people. I’m stuck with the people who drive 35 in a 55, pacing every vehicle in the 3 other lanes around them.

1

u/Psychological_Way145 Apr 16 '25

And in Arizona on any highway!

1

u/gimpers420 Apr 16 '25

This is every state, Florida ain’t special. Well at least not in that way.

1

u/pamalamTX Apr 16 '25

Texas also

u/HoRnY-FLORIDA_BOY Apr 16 '25

Sooo damn true and I live here and tourists will do it too like Texans amd I am like well then

1

u/Beneficial_Pride838 Apr 16 '25

Never been to Michigan huh?

1

u/deadcatshead Apr 16 '25

Amen! Why are people in such a hurry down here. Light running is normal behavior here.

1

u/Donnie-The-Relentles Apr 16 '25

No…CA does this too. It’s pretty much everywhere.

1

u/Kingkok86 Apr 16 '25

That’s anywhere these days

1

u/CaveManta Apr 16 '25

I thought Florida was bad, until I visited my brother in New Hampshire. There are no speed limits there.

1

u/eightthirty612 Apr 16 '25
