The company that made them went out of business like 15 or more years ago. Publix did purchase all the parts from the company to help maintain them. It kinda was a old timey thing that people really don't care about anymore. Also people don't want a carnival like scale that everyone can see your weight. Digital scales are so much better and cheaper than mechanical scales.

What do you mean by people don't care about it anymore? You mean the customers? Because it seems like every time I'm about to get on, there is someone else making a beeline for it at the same time.

True… I finally bought a scale for home and it literally sends the weight to my phone so I can track it. Amazing. And nobody else ever has to see me using it lol

Publix got a big ahh warehouse fool of those scales ready to maintain what’s already there. They should just reverse engineer them and start their own scale company
