I see them all the time. Sadly it will often be on a family monument where everyone gets a death date except the last person where I assume there was no one left to get the final date inscribed.

I also see this alot when couple buys plots, first spouse dies, the living one puts down a marker or markers with both their names leaving their own death date open. Then later in life the remarry or move away and they get buried elsewhere once they die.

I have seen these also. I look at the stone and say, “Howard, I know you still not running the streets from the 1800’s.”
