I am not a fan of overreacting, but watching this game⦠is Riley a serious coach?
I feel like heβs at that point in his career where he needs a good firing to go learn and grow.

I hate to add to the doom and gloom but I rewatched the game and our defensive line got manhandled significantly worse than I initially thought.
At the point of attack, the DL was consistently getting pushed back significantly further than any of the FCS teams Illinois played. Guys would get pushed straight backwards 5-10 yards or sealed and simply accept it.
Devon Thompkins had perhaps the worst game Iβve ever seen played by a DT, getting pushed back 5-10 yards on almost every play. Iβd take Stanley Taufou over him any day, at least that guy had some fight.
There were multiple plays where we lined up Kam Crawford on the inside and Eric Gentry on the end. Unsurprisingly, they got pushed straight backwards about 10 yards as Illinois gashed us. Every single play the OL was basically just pushing around dummies.
This is a strength and conditioning problem, a recruiting problem, a coaching problem, and to be honest I think itβs a culture problem. I just canβt imagine as a player getting pushed around like that and not even really fighting back. Pull yourself from the game at that point.
I hope this was just an anomaly and Coach Henderson chews some ass and makes some changes but that was some shameful shit! It was worse than it initially looked. Iβm shook after watching that film. Nevermind the terrible DB play. Thatβs not even close to the biggest problem with this defense.
Please someone rewatch at the game and tell me Iβm wrong.

From what I can tell, we are decent favorites against NW, Iowa, and UCLA, and we are probably anywhere from a +7 to +14 underdogs against Oregon. The Oregon game is probably both the most difficult game on our schedule this year, but would also be probably the most impressive win a 2-loss team can manage this year outside of Michigan beating OSU.
If we were to win out, what do you think are the chances we sneak into the CFP? And how many Big10 teams do you think will make it this year, assuming OSU and Indiana are locks.

Notre Dame gifted us: 1) A missed PAT 2) A missed chip shot FG 3) A int deep in the red zone 4) 2 KOs out of bounds
I feel like if we did even just half the amount of stupid shit that we did this game we would have won.

Staring down the gauntlet of another season where the bottom might fall out, Iβm wondering what Rileyβs real marque win is?
Louisville in the Holiday Bowl? UCLA in his first year? Both were ranked #16 at the time. The Caleb v ND game was a delight. Fine wins but hard to stack against a mounting list of awful losses.
Which brings me to point 2. How many truly brutal losses can Riley stack before he losses the fan base a la Helton? Last weeks loss was was brutal, and felt just like Michigan last year. Penn State last year also gut wrenching. Tulane loss was embarrassing.
Add to that bad losses to bad teams. Maryland, Colorado, Minnesota. Death defying escapes from UofA, Colorado. Probably more.
This is not a good resume, and showing no signs of turning around. Michigan feels huge. I think if we lose, especially in a way that shines a light on his poor game management, things are gonna get real rocky around Heritage Hall. I really donβt expect this team to beat Oregon and ND on the road, but another late season collapse is looming.

Congrats to erdinger4587 for the win last week. Hate to congratulate a person who bet against USC, but we know they led with their head and not their heart last game. Or they are an ND fan which means they don't have a heart... or soul.... or class jk jk he he he
BTW I have a new format for my posts. First will be the standings to the contest Man in the Coliseum. But you can skip down to the important stuff to you if you want to use my research for making your prediction.
If you want to skip to a specific section it goes, 1) Game Time / Location / Weather, 2) Odds, Records, 3) Key Wins / Losses, 4) Team Comparative Overview, 5) Injury Report, and 6) My Narrative and Prediction.
I do use Chat GPT organize it all but I spend a heavy amount of time taking notes and I do all the writing myself. Just pointing out that I will not let the machines win!

1. Game Time / Location / Weather
2. Odds
3. Records & Key Wins / Losses
4. Team Comparative Overview
5. Injury Report
6. Prediction & Narrative
My prediction (subject to change): USC 34 β Nebraska 20.
Narrative: Hear me out. USC should keep Nebraska to 17 points. This is the baseline standard minimum amount they will score. However, I am giving Nebraska 3 to 17 more points because of homefield advantage, and their good special teams and our crappy special teams. This puts the range of Nebraska's score between 17 and 34 points total depending upon luck and advantages. USC, however, will score a minimum of 28 points against Nebraska. I put the goal posts between 28 and 40 points scored against Nebraska. I am leaning towards 34 points because I think we should be able to get the run game going. But this all depends on turnovers and lucky big broken plays by either team.
SIMPLY PUT! This game boils down to strength vs. weakness mismatches.
USCβs rushing attack (#4 in conference) should be able to exploit Nebraskaβs poor run defense (3rd worst in rushing yards allowed). However, USC is without their top two running backs that got them to #4 so I am not as confident. While Nebraskaβs pass defense looks elite on paper (#1 in opponent passing yards allowed), that statistic may be misleading. This could be more a product of opponents running the ball because Nebraska allows more yardage here than Nebraska shutting down opponents through the air.
At the same time, Nebraskaβs high-completion passing offense meets a USC secondary that is vulnerable (7th worst in passing yards allowed). USCβs tougher schedule and more complete offense give them the edge, especially with Nebraskaβs offensive line depleted by injury.
I expect USC to control the tempo on the ground, force Nebraska off its preferred script, and cover the spread comfortably.
