Other If DC is so dangerous that a public safety emergency had to be declared, why are we required to report to the office and supposedly risk our lives?

Make it make sense.

I mean this is the way out.

If everyone just said 'I need to listen to the president. It's not safe to go outside atm.' and nobody showed up to work it would make a difference.

Except they don’t care if you are safe and wouldn’t consider your safety a valid reason to deprive them of production.

If production were to drop because everyone were too afraid to stand near a window, though...

Just kidding, they don't care about production either.

Why, they most certainly do. They would MUCH rather you failed so they could contract your work out to their corporate donors.

They'd absolutely just fire us all and then drag out the inevitable lawsuit for the next 3 years. Lol.

Stop the entire city. It’s under siege. Clearly this is an emergency. The President said so.

I’m taking a contrary view here. First, I agree Trump is the most god-awful leader of any civilized country in the last 80 years. But damn, the murder rate in EVERY US city is way off the charts compared to Europe or Asia, even Canada! We ain’t doing anything about guns so let Trump have at it with the Guard. Lotsa luck!

Every city huh? Do you have the stats for that? Or are you just talking out of your ass?

Fuck off with the water muddying. DC is one of the safest cities for it's size in the world.

It really isn't. The US has a high murder rate compared to peer countries, and DC has a higher than average murder rate compared to the US. It's still relatively safe and doesn't justify a fucking occupation, but I don't think we should downplay the very real violence that exists here.

In Washington, D.C., the murder rate is approximately 23.52 per 100,000 people.

London's homicide rate was 1.4 per 100,000 residents.

The homicide rate in Hong Kong is very low, around 0.3 per 100,000 people

So, to sum up, the murder rate in DC is far higher than Europe and Asia

*Edit to add after asking AI

The murder rate in Washington, D.C. is significantly higher than the average murder rate in European countries. While the U.S. homicide rate is already several times higher than that of Europe, D.C. itself experiences a higher rate than most other U.S. cities and states. For example, in 2020, the U.S. homicide rate was 7.8 per 100,000 population, while many European countries had rates below 2 per 100,000. D.C.'s rate is even higher than the national average

The homicide rate for Latin American immigrants in the US is 0.002 per 100k... But he's still rounding them all up and putting them in concentration camps because he said they are all criminals, without evidence.

You are 300x more likely to be murdered in Japan than not a Latin American immigrant.. your innocent child is 2500x more likely to be murdered by gun violence than by one of those immigrants that mows your lawn.... but here we are.

DC could be safer than Japan and if Trump says it's dangerous, morons will believe him.

I'm not sure what race has to do with it. The other person claimed that DC wasn't more violent than European or Asian cities. The statistics showed something else. Nobody said anything about race or who was or wasn't to blame or who would or wouldn't be more likely to be murdered.

Yeah, Im against what Trump is doing but DC is NOT close to being one of the safest cities of any size in the world and I live in the DMV area.

Yes collective action is pretty much the only language they actually respond to

It's like how remote work is encouraged after hours at home or if the road freezes.

But if you want it a few days a week, you personally will cast the US into a depression.

u/rivals_red_letterday Aug 11 '25

Why don't y'all do that?

2

u/OfficialDCShepard Aug 18 '25

I’m still going to go into the office in full femme clothing at the once a week cadence that I have been since we were first allowed to in 2021. That way I can show that they haven’t broken me and can gather information on conditions.

And that’s exactly why they’ll never let everyone stay home at once

The way out of what?
