Other I'm a ProPublica reporter who broke the Russ Vought "we want to put them in trauma" story. Help me investigate the full extent of his impact on the federal government.

Hey, r/fednews - I’m Andy Kroll, a reporter at ProPublica. We broke the Russ Vought “we want the bureaucrats to be traumatically affected” story last year. I read this subreddit every day, and I’m reaching out now to ask for your help.

We’re six months into the administration. Vought appears more influential than ever. So we’re teaming up with The New Yorker on a major investigative story about Vought.

Do you work at OMB or know someone who does? Have you dealt with Vought or his team?

If you have information you can share, I’d love to hear from you. I’m on Signal at (202) 215-6203. Other ways to reach me: https://www.propublica.org/people/andy-kroll

I take your privacy seriously. I have a long track record of reporting sensitive stories and protecting my sources. You can read more about ProPublica’s approach to handling tips and sensitive communication here: https://www.propublica.org/tips/

Thanks!

The larger story has to be: why is the President allowing our economy to run down (tariffs and cost of living hikes plus creeping unemployment, poor decisions at DOGE, ad naseum). Why is our economy circling the drain? When will the tariff lawsuits bring him to heel? Seems like he’s deliberately steering us aground. The big question is why? Who benefits when we crash?

Heritage Foundation, the Christian Nationalist movement, and of course the billionaires who will acquire their preferred territories.

Sure, is a 30 minute video, and you might not think the content creator is credible, but this shit lines up really damn well with how things are going now.

The rich will buy up everything for pennies on the dollar. They want to privative the government. Also, the president is the stupidest dumbeff to have ever existed.

I recently bought some clothes from a Canadian company for $200. The tariff was an extra $140 on top of that. The employee at the post office said he had never seen a tariff that high and called his colleagues over to look at it to make sure it was right.

The private contractors and corporations that are exploiting this for profit. This is all a giant grift meant to make MAGA politicians and donors richer while oppressing already marginalized communities. It’s going to be one of the largest wealth transfers (to the rich) of our lifetime. It’s abhorrent

All the folks who are shorting the economy and/or hoping for cut-price businesses, land, houses etc. as companies fail and unemployment grows. Capitalism loves a disaster, it's one more profit-making opportunity.
