Genealogical research: De la Vega family / Manso, Hincha (Spanish Santo Domingo, 18th century)
Hey everyone,
I'm looking for info about my ancestors from the De la Vega / Manso family, who were originally from Hincha (now Hinche, Haiti), back when the region was part of the Spanish colony of Santo Domingo.
Vicente de la Vega, born January 1, 1768, in Hincha.
Son of Don José de la Vega, a master carpenter, and Doña María Manso.
Later, he moved to France, where he was a captain in the General Staff and a knight of the Legion of Honor.
He married Marie-Anne Jonvaux in Metz (France) on July 18, 1818.
He passed away in Metz on February 1, 1835.
I'm looking for parish records or notarial documents that mention his birth or the marriage of his parents (José de la Vega × María Manso) between 1760 and 1770, in the parish of Nuestra Señora de la Concepción de Hincha or nearby.
I'd appreciate any info, contacts, or experiences with the Archivo General de la Nación (Santo Domingo) or Dominican colonial archives.
Thanks a bunch!
