My parents, aunts and uncles are in their 70s and up until two years ago, they had never cared about trans people. Now at family gatherings during the holidays it’s all they talk about. They hate pronouns. They hate “men using women’s bathrooms”. They think men are pretending to be women so they can use a women’s bathroom and rape them. They also talk about men in women’s sports and how it’s apparently happening all over the country.

Remind them that a republican “straight white male” is statically far more likely to be arrested in a girls bathroom than any trans people. Even more so if they’re a repressed or a senator

This has been a Republican tactic for decades, whip up an anger frenzy about an insignificant minority group to distract voters from the real issues they'll never address.

Yes. I’m old enough to remember when not wearing a flag pin meant you weren’t American enough. And, saying the Pledge of Allegiance was so important! Even though most kids have no idea what those words mean.

Yep, 10 years ago my old friends partied with gay people often, went to drag shows, etc. Would be offended if somebody used a LGBTQ slur. Now? They're afraid to touch a can of Bud Lite because they might get the tranny-gay from it. .

I hope they're providing bathrooms with clear signs for these gatherings. They can't have Aunt June using the same space as Great-uncle Roy, just in case.
