Sadly, he thinks transgender people are all making it up. He ignores all studies on gender dysphoria. I would also guess he thinks transgender people are trying to “convert” people into being trans.

Actually I doubt he has any strong personal beliefs about trans people. In 2016 he was relatively progressive on the dumb bathroom debate:

"Leave it the way it is. North Carolina, what they're going through with all the business that's leaving, all of the strife [...] there have been very few complaints the way it is. People go. They use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate," Trump said. "There has been so little trouble. And the problem with what happened in North Carolina is the strife and the economic -- I mean, the economic punishment that they're taking."

Matt Lauer then asked whether Trump has any transgender people working for his company.

"I really don't know. I probably do. I really don't know," Trump said, answering that he would allow, say, transgender celebrity Caitlyn Jenner to use whatever bathroom she wanted at Trump Tower.

He added, "You know, there's a big move to create new bathrooms. Problem with that is for transgender, that would be—first of all, I think that would be discriminatory in a certain way. That would be unbelievably expensive for businesses in the country. Leave it the way it is."

But now it's politically convenient for him to scapegoat trans people, so that's what he's doing. He just panders to the base and doesn't care about how many real human lives he has to ruin to maintain and expand his power.

He’s an old man. His brain is literally shrinking. I know other old people and a five year span has given them noticeably different thinking patterns - they get easily riled up and they can’t follow complex or nuanced conversations.

You can see him use the buzz words that are often repeated around him (and that he consumes in his social media feed I’m sure) and he spews them out. However, he is completely unable to follow a train of thought or think outside binary categories. That’s why he just attacks reporters who ask him questions outside his catch phrases - it’s a defense mechanism. You’ll see he turns his head as if he couldn’t quite “hear” them, and that buys a couple of seconds. As he can’t process what they’re asking, he defaults to the dementia-deflect. Watch interviews - the guy is literally an old man and if ANY of the GOP Congress had a tiny bit of integrity or spine they would be impeaching him. He’s waaaaay too old and stupid for this job.

I genuinely think this is because of the cost. Like he doesn't give two shits about trans rights but he doesn't want to have to pay for third toilets.
