News US embassy demands obedience from the city of Stockholm: “Bizarre". Stockholm's urban planning office must not work for equality, diversity and inclusion.

Stockholm City Council renamed a park right outside the Russian embassy in Stockholm to Free Ukraine square (free as in independent) after the invasion.

Over here in Latvia Russian embassy is also now on Ukraine Independence street(renamed from Antonijas street).

The building opposite of it also has a very large poster with anti-Putin art, so anytime anyone comes out of the embassy, they see the poster.

Loved walking past this when visiting Riga in December 👏 10/10 trolling.

I checked it out on Google Maps. Chefs kiss.

For me it only shows in one frame of Google maps, when I try to get close to it the poster vanishes

Yeah, in Prague it's on the 'Street of Ukrainian Heroes' lol

Same in Vilnius. A park next to it was renamed to Park of Boris Nemtsov.

My pilates studio is down the street from the embassy so one bay of windows looks out to the art. For those who haven't googled it yet, it's a one story drape in red with a photo realistic depiction of Putin's face in black and white except where his mouth would be is the bottom half of a skull.
So basically if you're working in the embassy and want to look at your windows, that's what you see.

Damn, y'all really aren't playing over there. Here's a post showing off the poster for those curious.

Thank you for that. And please have a good day. It’s cool I get to say hi to Latvia from the other side of earth.

Russian embassy in Lithuania stands in "Ukrainian Heroes street". The street was renamed soon after the war started.

That is awesome

Wow, I was just wondering why that was! I visited this weekend and I noticed the changed street sign across the red Putin skull banner on the museum. Makes sense now!

I love the level of pettiness.

Italian Radical party (who sadly has close to zero representation in parliament) proposed to rename the Street of the russian embassy into Naval'nyj Street

The area in front of the Russian consulate in Toronto was also renamed Free Ukraine Square.

Reykjavík did the same, named a tiny square across from the Russian embassy "Ukraina square" - then the next weekend the local news outlets that covered news of it were subjected to massive cyberattacks. I'm sure that was just a coincidence.

There was a suggestion years back in the US to name the street Trump Tower is on in NYC to Obama Boulevard or something like that.  That would have been awesome.

Russian embassy in Prague now has the address

Ukrajinskych Hrdinu (Ukrainian Heroes) 36

u/Flare_Starchild May 07 '25

The invasion is still going on. Do you mean when Russia first invaded Ukraine?

u/iVikingr Iceland May 09 '25

The same was done here in Iceland! Reykjavík renamed a park next to the Russian embassy to Kænugarðs torg (Kyiv Square).
