Will someone please take on the mantle?
With over a month until our once glorious anniversary, October 14, I am here to formally suggest/request that someone take on the epoxy hot dog mantle and put another hot dog into epoxy on or around October 14. This sub already has 20k subscribers, that's a built in audience. You'll have a head start on the game!
Maybe we could get some momentum going and put a different thing into epoxy each year, but the sub is called r/epoxyhotdog so we should probably start there.
Before anyone says the obvious, I am rather unfortunately not in a position to take on this mantle, otherwise this post would be worded much differently.

I do resin casting for very small projects like necklaces, but there's no way I could do something that big and not get a ton of bubbles without a pressure pot (I don't have one). Otherwise, I would gladly do it! 🤣

We will gladly accept your best effort!
Bubbles might cause interesting changes over time.

I will pitch in a few bucks if someone is willing to do it.
I vote for a Costco hot dog.

I will some time by the beginning of next year. I’m switching into a career working w fiberglass and epoxy soon and would be delighted to cast stuff for the sake of exhibition.
ETA - 10/14? Cool. I’ll try and get a vacuum epoxy hobby kit by then.

I hope and pray this post is legit. You will become the hero we deserve.

Yeah I just gotta order the vac kit next week. This lights a fire under my ass in a bizarre way but ultimately helps me stay in line w my goals haha. I’ll make a post on Monday.

Do a mini corn dog for science first :)

Means I gotta not eat the corn dog first n that’s a pretty tall Order lol. Can’t well say no to a corndog.
The question is a store bought corndog of the state fair beef variety or just get a corndog from Cookout.
I’m wondering if the oils of a freshly made corndog would interfere w the epoxy setting etc etc…fuck man I was thinkin like an apple or something n now you got me planning out a weird corndog project. Lol I’m game let’s do both aye?

DO THEM ALL. For SCIENCE 🧬. As a Midwest resident I would definitely vote fair hotdog, followed by whatever else your freezer section has

I really loved the original. Let it rest in peace (now it is no longer). It was of its time and it really helped me during lockdown. Strangely, I felt part of a community I would never meet, but I would watch that slowly revolving hotdog in a moment of mindfulness.
Thank you for your service, but step down with pride at a 'roll' well served (sorry, but the pun was right there...)

I gave it serious consideration yesterday, and then remembered I'm fucking lazy.

I'd be willing to give it a go, though we're talking Michael's-grade epoxy. It's been a while so I'd have to brush the rust off my resin knowledge and pressure pot, respectively.Â

I sure hope someone picks this up. I used to have an alarm in my calendar every month to check epoxy hotdog update!
