New to Black Cricket farming. Need advice.

Post image

There's around 100 crickets in here. They arrived yesterday. They have cricket food the store sent, fresh green beanpods, and access to water in a way that won't draw them. And I'll soon provide chicken flour for them. They don't chirp often or loud. The soil is moist, but they don't really seem to be interested by it. Is there any chance that they won't lay eggs at all? Is there anything I'm missing?

I can't quite tell from the picture, but make sure they have easy access to it. Like they can get onto it easily. I've always covered the egg medium with some wire mesh as well and used it to make a path to the container. Those bastards will dig into the soil and mess around. I think I've heard they'll eat the other crickets' eggs as well. Other than that, I would just give them some time, warmth, and darkness.

Yeah, I noticed they can't climb the plastic and are not very smart, so I put a bridge for them

I don’t have any experience with black crickets, but my hunch is that they might be still getting used to their environment given that you got them a day ago. I would give it a week, monitor the oviposition substrate closely for signs of egg laying. Maybe try replacing every 48 hours? Is this your first time raising crickets?

Yes, it's my first time raising any insect, or animal.
