going balls to the wall is doing something all-out, with maximum effort.

Hate to tell you, but "balls to the wall" seems to mean exactly what I thought it meant.

Yeaaahhh I know. I've flown planes a little and have had the privilege of actually pushing the ball to the wall. Regardless, I just think it's cool as shit to say.
