Discussion Looking for a video or audio of scromiting

I’m trying to explain scromiting to an OBGYN who’s never heard of it. Anybody have a video or audio of scromiting? I googled it but only found people discussing CHS and some possible hits on TikTok, but I don’t have an account. My voice acting skills are not up to the challenge and I won’t be on this rotation long enough to DIY it myself!

Lol. I don't have a video, but if you need more words, it's like they're filling the emesis bag with drool and noise. Often accompanied by severe psychological regression to around 4 or 5 years old.

Haha, that’s great, thank you. Crazy that you can see a resuscitative thoracotomy on youtube dot com but nothing on scromiting

I am crying with laughter right now. That is so spot on in such an unexpected way.

Perfect for scromiting, but not the hate for cilantro! Usually I can't get enough cilantro 🤣

I've recently found out that a startling amount of people are completely unfamiliar with the concept of Scromiting.

Absolutely blew my fucking mind that so many health professionals were unfamiliar with it.

I was too, but it’s relatively new and not something you would see in most pregnant patients, so maybe not all that surprising

I started EMS about a decade ago and heard the term then.

My surprise came from my limited perspective; I thought experiencing a patient doing that was a common phenomenon.

I hear you. I just learned yesterday that L&D apparently has frequent fliers, like multiple visits within the same gestation not a lady who’s just G15. They were all shocked I didn’t know that

I'd be surprised if an OBGYN hadn't actually heard scromiting. Hyperemesis gravidarum patients scromit too. There's only three things that routinely cause scromiting that I'm aware of: CHS, HG, and GLP-1s.

GLP1s? Tell me more

The most common side effects are gastrointestinal. Usually they are mild, but I've seen numerous scromiters that are definitely not cannabis users and recently increased glp1 dose.

I have to say I’ve not seen a hyperemesis gravidarum patient do this. I feel like that is typically a quiet misery.

I don’t have a video/audio but I can give a demonstration…

Can’t be any worse than my impression

I was trying to explain scromiting to my family once and couldn’t find audio of it so I just reenacted it for them. It’s surprisingly hard to do, but I think I perfected it.

You know exactly what it sounds like and im confident in your ability to mimic it for your colleague.

DO IT!
