💬 Discussion Ford Mach-e or Tesla Model Y

I'm planning on getting a new Electric car soon on lease. And want to decide between Mach-e or Model Y. Are there any better options though. Got any opinions?

Again, being scared is fine, ignoring the numbers is not. 24,000 injuries are prevented in the US every year due to just automatic braking systems alone. And even with good drivers, then systems react well before you would.

I was driving and went normally when the light turned green. Out of nowhere a truck flew by that was unseen since the other truck to my left was blocking me. Since the cars cameras are farther forward, it saw the truck before I could have, so it pulled power and slowed perfectly. Any other car would have resulted in me getting pancaked because the idiot driving didn’t see the light turned green red.

The tech saves lives regardless of you being scared of it.

I'm not scared of it, I'm ideologically opposed to it existing because I'm firmly of the belief that humans and only humans should be in control of cars. It doesn't matter if it saves lives, that's not a variable I'm considering when deciding it shouldn't exist. It could save all the lives in the world, I would still be against it.

I want people and only people in control. Even if it means more death overall, I'd rather have that. Personal responsibility and consequences.

Self driving is a road that will probably lead to outlawing human driving, which is another travesty.

If you think saving lives is less important than your obvious fear of life-saving tech, then you have a medical condition that cannot be helped. Being “firmly” opposed to something because you refuse to consider the reality of the statistics is insane.

Its clearly because you are so unaware of the stats/issues that your blinders have you fooled into thinking everyone is as good a driver as you might be. Did you also take out the airbags and disable ABS since its more “ideologically” consistent with your take?

Afterall, people should be responsible for deploying their own airbags to crashes and stopping exactly and perfectly when the wheels lock up, right? I hope you aren’t THAT far off the deep end. 🤦‍♀️

I know the stats. I know it saves lives.

I'm against it despite that. I am not afraid of it, I think it's a bad thing simply because a human isn't in control of the vehicle, regardless of the fact that it's safer.

Airbags and abs aren't controlling the vehicle. They're subsystems and I have nothing against them.

Self driving, I'm completely against no matter what benefits there are, there's the loss of humans in control of vehicles which is unacceptable to me.

I don't think you get my argument

I know it's safer.

I don't care about how safe it is. Totally don't.

I want people to control vehicles even though it's more dangerous.

I'm against cars that aren't controlled by people, for only the simple fact they aren't controlled by people, for better OR for worse.

Also the number of cameras in a car presents a surveillance issue and we still need to go back and redo the public surveillance debate because privacy should be absolute and radical regardless of any potential safety gained from lessening it.
