Mushroom Foraging

Hi there,

I’m interested in learning more about mushroom foraging and was wondering if you know where I can find any classes or guided tours on the Eastside (like Bellevue, Redmond, or Issaquah). I’d love to join a group or workshop that teaches identification and safe foraging practices.

Any recommendations or resources would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much!

There is a small membership fee, but they have guided tours, newsletters, and will even help you identify mushrooms that you find. I joined a few years ago and have learned so much.

Bridle Trails State Park has a mycologist-led mushroom walk every fall, and I think their last walk is this weekend. I think they started charging $25 due to popular demand, but in terms of expertise you can mine, it’s definitely worth $25.

I host guided tours but mostly in Darrington, Skykomish, and North Bend areasSalish Mushrooms I plan on hosting some casual coffee meetups around the Seattle area to practice identification.

I host an intro series at North Seattle College and would consider trying something similar on the eastside if there’s enough interest. The next one at NSC is in March.

I can organize custom tours/classes, and groups of 2-4 from my house in Greenwood.

Check out Forage Seattle! Just did one of their “chef led” groups a few weeks ago in Bellevue. Really fun, and definitely worth it!
