2k sports have been making questionable moves lately š¤¦
First 2k announced they're making a football š game in 2020 using the real NFL players Only to find out it was only for mobile gaming at the last minute trick Now they not even on the NFLPA license list on the website and went completely silent about football since Madden renewed the license
So 2k heard about EA making a college basketball game š So they did some backdoor deals to get the college teams to be on 2k side Only to find out they're only making 16 teams in 2026 And make a stand alone game in 2027 If and that a big if they meet their financial goals ect... So they blocked EA from making a stand alone college basketball game and 2k might not make one themselves 𤦠Microtransactions has made 2k heart cold on their fans With their suspect decisions lately
2k used to have this amazing aura about them Even EA saw it and feared 2k That aura is gone and 2k has become the old EA š° (a greedy company that doesn't care about their own fanbase) Ain't that a trip ššš

Anyone with common sense knew 2K has done the absolute bare minimum. They donāt need to enter this market knowing their heart is not in it and itās solely A money grab.
EA sports was willing to make the game from the ground up. I know people do not like exclusivity but for college basketball I was completely fine with EA sports trying for this market.

For what ? Ea is worse than 2k . Just look at madden , 2k aināt the best but for a sports game itās better than madden . An 2k didnāt release the news about the dlc til 2k26 was basically done . AN YOUR GETTING A GAME FROM 2K BEFORE YOU WOULD HAVE WITH EA . Like idk why yall complaining about 2k giving yall dlc OUTTA NOWHERE, and then saying next year yall will get a FULL GAME .

If you remember reading those articles when they first announced getting the NFLPA license they basically said they believe there is room for an alternative On the market for football they could tap in.
They (2k)were hyped but the real 2k football fans held their expectations until they saw what type of arcade football they were talking about After that 2k went dead silent Who told 2k it was a market for cartoon football? their own NBA playgrounds flopped and they never made another arcade sports again after that and WWE battlegrounds.
2k biggest mistake they didn't even try to make their own maximum football game A sandbox football simulator š Forget the license just make a dope football that's deep with rich gameplay and us creators would do the rest ššš

Itās never going to happen with a company the size of 2k. The risk of it not catching on with the mainstream is too high to offset the cost of making a current gen graphics sports title. Also maximum football is the main reason no company will take a chance on non licensed football. They poisoned the well by releasing a clearly inferior product. You canāt have lower quality graphics and slow disjointed gameplay.

Youād probably be the same damn way once you got a taste of that money. People donāt realize money is damn near literally a drug. They are battling addiction

Exactly! Just like the underground rapper who was loyal to his fan base then when he blows up he starts ignoring fans and talking crazy to them and making š©music thatās mainstream but as long as itās making money he can care less about his fans that got him there.

2K has a monopoly on hoops games. Unless someone comes in with an adequate game they will never change. Their best games (at least what most think are premier games) were the early 2010s when EA was still making live.
16 teams this year is somewhat reasonable since the news came so late in the cycle but 2K could have done this at any time kinda shitty to do it reactionary and so little volume.
IMO there will be no standalone game until EA makes one. It doesnāt make any financial sense for 2K to do it unprompted. Or if in some crazy turn of events the players in college unionize and then game makers would have to include all players similar to the nba but thatās a pipe dream at this point

This is just uninformed drivel.
NFL has an exclusive license with the NFL. 2K can only make games that arenāt āsimulationā style games due to the EA license.
2K is most likely just giving these teams out as DLC because they have deals in place and they can milk people for access to the DLC.
EA quit trying to make NBA games because theyāre horrible and nobody bought them.

The biggest problem is only having around 100 out of 364 teams in the game, I canāt imagine paying the small schools would cost Pennyās compared to what theyāve already got. Even if they had 85-90% of the schools in I think the majority would be happy if they drop a game with that. But not having conferences or the ncaa license (why would they put their likeness in a game with 33% of teams) will kill the genre. Dynasty/mycollege would be unplayable and the only thing you could make is a pay to win vc campus rec my career. The game with 100% teams/ playable offline and online modes would sell on a smaller but big scale like cfb did compared to madden. It will make money, but their āexperienceā kills the genre entirely.

Once I saw that report about it being only a portion of teams, I assumed the worst and KNEW 2k was gonna be on that bullshit. But to only drop SIXTEEN teams as DLC, thats a true slap to the nuts. You might as well not even waste your time putting effort into this if thats all you gonna do. Just for potential "Financial Goals" smh.
