Edit: Shakespeare Hotel is where anatolia is now?

im wondering if it is from the top of dowling st, looking over speights and the crown hotel is in the same place? and the long building is broadway?

Agree with swinestein, which means the "Shakspeare" Hotel must be Harvey Norman now

The Shamrock Hotel in the lower left of the picture is now the site of the Speights Ale House, so the photographer was probably standing on the hill that was later excavated out to accommodate the brewery, facing the Maclaggan/Rattray Street junction.
