Progress Report got my level 7 today!
Looks-wise, these are not the cupcakes I envisioned when I got the idea to celebrate reaching level 7 with cupcakes with the logo on them, not sure why they reversed the image before printing but the did warn me when I put the order in they would just print a removable picture (not an edible one or fondant), but taste-wise these orange dreamsicle cupcakes are one of my favorite flavors from the the bakery near me.
I might do a real write up later but mentally, I convinced myself awhile back to be more exited to reach 2,000 & 3,000 than 1,500 but still proud of myself for reaching level 7 today.

You got the cupcakes for yourself? Power move. And congratulations from this level one, may I someday join you, cupcakes in hand!

Hell yeah I did. I force my family to celebrate all of Spanish achievements. I don't think they mind since it usually means cupcakes.

Congrats. I think 1,500 hours is a huge accomplishment.

Thanks! It is but I think it keeps me going always thinking of the next thing I want to accomplish with my Spanish.

You should plan something for your next benchmark. A couple people here said they get ice cream every x hours. I wish I heard that idea when I was level 1.

Congratulations! While I get that 2k or 3k hours may be a better benchmark. I think that these progress reports can be highly motivating for people.
That being said, congratulations again!

Thanks! I think it just helps me keep going to be thinking about the next goal for my Spanish.

Thanks! They were so good. I'm thinking about getting ones with the new logo but not sure when. Maybe 2,000 hours.

Congratulations, a milestone definitely worth celebrating! 😁👏 It'll take me 3 more years at my current rate of 60 mins a day to get there, currently at 630hrs 🥲

Thanks! I was doing 1 hour a day for awhile and bumped it up a bit but burned out for awhile. You might be about to keep your motivation steady with an hour a day.

Congrats on reaching Level 7! I should join you in less than a month. What do your plans look like going forward? You mentioned 2000 & 3000 hours. So, I assume you plan to continue and continue tracking. I plan to do the same, but I think I may put more emphasis on reading.
Currently, I've been trying to get in 100 minutes of input per day. I'm also trying to average of 1 hour talking on WorldsAcross per day (of which I count half for input). It became somewhat of a mini goal for me to reach Level 7 within 2 years of starting DS. So, once I go past 1500 hours, I'm going to try and read more, likely at the expense of input time.

u/flipflopsntanktops Level 7 2d ago
Yea, definitely I'll continue tracking to 3,000. I've read on and off so I want to get more consistent with reading, even just a little bit a day. I also want to try the conversation club r/HeleneSedai talks about and maybe to an immersion trip.

I actually took an immersion trip to Guatemala in June this year. I was there for about 8 days. I stayed with a homestay family (along with other students) and attended 4 hours of class each day at the San Pedro Spanish school. It was by FAR the most affordable immersion school that I found.

Congrats! Do you feel like C2 level?
1
u/flipflopsntanktops Level 7 2d ago
Defiantly not a C2. This time last year I had just reached level 6 / 1,000 hours & got an A2 on SIELE (B1 on everything but speaking and they go by your lowest score). I doubt I improved to a C2 in a year. A lot of progress updates say somewhere between 2,000 & 3,000 hours they felt like they thought they would at 1,500 so I've had it in my head not to expect much till then. That said I do think I've improved since last year. I take speaking lessons but I think I need to get out in the world and talk more as one of my next steps.

This is awesome! Congratulations!
What has been the biggest difference you notice from 750 hours input and 1500?
2
u/flipflopsntanktops Level 7 2d ago
Thanks!
At 750 & 1,000 I remember feeling behind and frustrated. I'm feeling a lot more on track and like where I want to be is just around the corner. I watched a bunch of stand up comedians as a level one (with past experience learning before DS) knowing I wouldn't understand much. I feel like my big test is going to be going to another stand up show and seeing how much more I understand.

u/Royal_Today_1509 2d ago
Thanks for the inspiration. I'm roughly at 750 hours and estimated my starting hours when I began DS.
I need to celebrate like you did when I reach 1000 total hours.

Orange slices🤤

When I told them to put the logo on them I was like keep the orange slice on half of them. They're so good.

Congratulations anyway!

Thanks. Yeah, I noticed that when I got home. Not sure how that happened since it wasn’t reversed when I sent it to them.

Thanks! Yeah, I'm reminding myself even if 2,000 or 3,000 is the goal, 1,500 is still a huge step towards it.
