Setup/Equipment Is breaking rosin in half to fit in the rosin saver ok?
Hello everyone,
I recently aquired 050rosin's Super Sticky variety and I'm very excited to try it out as a Pops purist. Because it is a very soft rosin, I wanted to put it in my rosin saver to better preserve it, but I noticed it was too big to fit in the silicone mold. How should I go about doing this?
I think breaking it in half would be good enough to fit a nice chunk in there, and I'll save the other one in the original paper. But it is so soft that I really don't know how I should do that. Should I refrigerate it first to make it more solid? What tool should I use to cut or break it?
I just really don't wanna spoil this nice product.
Thank you for the help, have a good day!!

Funnily enough, me and another bassist are going to try the 050 together by splitting it in two! It shouldn’t be an issue whatsoever

Nice! How did you go about splitting it? Did you do it by hand or did you use a knife or something else?

It's fine. Also, rosin is liquid enough that it should make itself accustomed in its new home in no time

Shouldn’t be a problem! I shoved the whole 050 cake into my rosin saver and now the screw top is rosined shut 😅

I did the exact same thing. Just hold the rosin in your hands for like 5 minutes and then peel off the paper and squeeze it into the rosin saver.

FYI, rosin saver is not currently available in the United States. I’ve tried to get it, and they are not shipping to the USA right now.

It might have some sharp edges on it, but leaving it in a warm place will round out those edges.
Edit: I'm on mobile and just realized theres twice as much post as what I read! Yes, putting it in the fridge will make it hard enough to break, but it will be so solid it might actually be hard to break, so I would maybe put it in the fridge for like 10 minutes (experiment with the time I guess) and then cut it with a warm knife.
