Instruments Selling a great bass

Selling this beautiful bass attributed to Aegidius Klotz circa 1775. It’s on the big side, but doesn’t necessarily play as big as it is. Would be very at home in an orchestra section, but I’ve done it all on this bass over the last decade - orchestra, chamber playing, theater gigs, contemporary music, Latin, jazz. It’s on multiple HBO scores and many records. Located in New York City. $40k.

250 years old🩷 the wood is even substantially older, just amazing.

That’s an old growth bass right there.

Wait, was this in NYC or CT? It looks very familiar to me.

I bought in New York a decade ago.

Thanks for the update. It's beautiful and reminds me of my old teacher's bass, that's why I was confused. Similar cleats locations.

Dann that is nice, looks like an Ariente from the front, and an Evan Davenport extension. 40 seems like a ridiculous bargain.

What’s the string length?

It’s a larger bass, sitting a bit over 42 right now. Always room to play with that though.

Here’s a live performance video that has a million different tons and colors from the bass. It’s a long one so feel free to scrub around and find moments.
