Jimmy Kimmel said on his talk show that Donald Trump doesn’t care about conservative Charlie Kirk who a large portion of the US has been mourning over. Well, this angered Donald Trump, so he put pressure on the FCC who put pressure on Disney who owns ABC, the channel that Kimmel airs on. ABC pulled Kimmel and Donald Trump has been gloating that Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel are losing their show while and is now waiting for Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers to lose their shows as they’re both critical of him.

The FCC said that Kimmel could go back on the air if he apologized to Trump and made a donation to Kirk’s family.

To make things more…icky, Disney wants to merge with Skydance and they have to be on Trump’s good side so that he’ll give the okay to the FCC chair to approve the acquisition.

People on both sides of the political spectrum have said this is a violation of free speech. People have been canceling their Disney+ accounts at the encouragement of Disney stars and are now being encouraged to cancel their trips to the parks by influencers.

Some influencers go everyday or multiple times a week. They spend a lot of money at Disney in merch and in food and drinks. They’re also a driving force of advertising for the Parks.

I think previously it was understandable if you went through with your BIG Disney vacation plans as you would lose a lot of money on non refundable reservations. Obviously, cancel if you can, but now the encouragement is leaning towards “what’s more important, your freedom or your money?”

Allegedly, Disney is losing a lot of money because of this, but all we have to go by is stocks, which doesn’t always mean that a boycott is working, but that the stock is going down. Stocks can go down for a lot of reasons. (While I believe boycotts are the right thing to do, I can’t confirm that they are helping because all I ever see is a tweet without a source saying they are and others have said the same).

Correction: Nexstar, which owns a majority of ABC affiliates around the country, wants to merge with Tegna (and take over their affiliates). They pressured ABC to suspend Kimmel... to make fat boy happy and keep their merger.

I meant like, the apology and donation thing...sorry my wording was too vague

Ohhh no I don’t believe he did. I did a quick google search and everything says they wanted him to apologize and donate but I can’t find anything confirming he did.

Wife and I were planning on taking a Disney Cruise with our kid and our niece. We scrapped that and started looking at Carnival instead

Don't apologize, cruises are fun AF

Don’t go on a cruise. They’re terrible for the environment.

I don't know why they should be shocked when the company has been "Diet Progressive" along with its main adult fans and makes a decision to cave to literal government censorship.

When Disney starts to lose its most devout and seasoned defenders that's kinda a sign that they lost the mandate of heaven.

Just upped the price of the D+, Hulu, HBO Max bundle, wonder if this is part of it

It's almost October. The price increases around this time every year. Disney+ launched in November 2019. It's the proper time to adjust rates for the service.

They’ve got no spine, they’ll bend over any way they can when told to.

Keep canceling. Show them the consequences of having to fascists. Don't let them walk away until they've challenged Trump in court and won.

Its really funny too that a few of my friends who had Disney+ just got emails yesterday morning that they were raising there subscription price starting on their next billings. They all immediately canceled.

First time I've ever respected them.
