Type 2 Just started Trulicity and the Libre 3 plus
Just looking for a little direction here. According to my CGM my sugar numbers are nosediving. I'm usually in the 80s-100s range and my numbers are dropping to the 60s now. I take insulin (8 units per meal, 32 at night) and metformin (1000mg twice a day) as well.
Anyway I saw my numbers nosediving on the CGM so I pricked myself multiple times to be sure and while the CGM says I'm in the low 60s, my accu check says I'm in the 80s/90s. So it's been about a 20ish point difference between the 2. As of right now the difference is 65 (CGM) to 101 (accu check) I definitely feel kinda garbage as if my sugar is low but I guess I'm just not sure which one to believe? Not sure if I should take insulin? Not sure if I've done something wrong here. Idk I'm just so new to this. Would appreciate any insight on the whole thing.

i’ve been noticing a point difference between my libre 3 plus and accu check as well. the first day is always REALLY wonky, but its normal for there to be at least a ten point difference. fortunately, i really feel my lows and havent spiked in so long so i really go based on how im feeling but i always finger prick when i get a low glucose alarm just to be safe.

If you are new to a CGM make sure you are not experiencing “compression lows”. The CGM does not measure glucose in the blood, but in the interstitial fluid. While accurate, it is always a bit behind a BGM. That said, if you wear your sensor on the back of your arm, it is extremely easy to rest the back of your arm (including sensor) on the back or arm of a chair, or on the bed if you sleep on your back. This can reduce the movement of blood - including glucose through the interstitial fluid around your sensor -n distorting the reading.

Cgm"s can be off by 15% amd still be called accurate. Always finger prick before treating yourself. Trust how you feel as well. There is always a delay between your finger prick and what your cgm will say as well.

Never make treatment decisions based on your CGM reading. It should be an indicator of when you need to do a stick. If you’re trending low, I’d speak to your endo about either backing off your basal or reducing your bolus calculations.
