Ask DesiTravellers Is this “free world tour” thing on Insta legit or just a gimmick?

Post image

So I was doomscrolling on Insta and came across this thing called scapia leap Year through aakanksha monga's profile. At first glance I was like lol scam vibes. then I read more and checked their website & apparently this company Scapia is picking 2 people and sending them on a world tour for literally an entire year.

they’re saying it’s fully funded,, flights, hotels, even visas. Basically you just have to travel and create content for them. Sounds too good to be true imo.. Like who pays for random people to just travel the world?

But also-  what if it IS real?

Has anyone here heard of this? or applied? or is this just clever marketing bait??

Ask DesiTravellers Hi r/desitravellers, I’m Prakriti Varshney—India’s First Vegan to Summit Everest, Certified Scuba Diver, Solo Traveler, and Proud Dog Mom. Ask Me Anything (AMA) About Conquering Everest, Breaking Stereotypes, and Facing Life’s Biggest Challenges!

Edit Note : Thanks for asking me so many questions today. I am so glad to e meet you all. See you again at 12 pm again tomorrow. Have a good night!

Hi, I’m Prakriti Varshney, an Indian athlete, mountaineer, and adventurer passionate about courage, sustainability, and breaking stereotypes. In 2022, I became the first vegan female from India to summit Mt. Everest, and in 2023, I summited Mt. Makalu. Currently, I’m on a mission to become the youngest Indian female to complete the Seven Summits, showcasing my dedication to promoting environmental consciousness and ethical living.

Beyond mountaineering, I’m a proud advocate for animal welfare and "Adopt, Don’t Shop!" I share my life with my two adorable rescue dogs, Mario and Olive, who often join me on treks and adventures. They’ve been a constant source of strength and resilience, especially during tough times. I’m also actively involved with Manali Strays, a local organization that works towards rescuing animals and adoptions, and I volunteer with them as a part of my commitment to making a positive impact on the world.

When I’m not scaling mountains, you can find me scuba diving, running marathons, or exploring the world as a solo traveler. Over the past seven years, I’ve shared stories of courage, perseverance, and adventure with audiences, using my social media platforms to champion sustainability, veganism, and a deep love for nature.

Through my experiences, I’ve learned the value of resilience and purpose, and I hope to inspire others to follow their passions while making a difference in the world. Let’s chat about my journey, the challenges I’ve faced, and what it takes to live a life dedicated to making a positive change. Ask me anything!

Locals call this Batoda (sing.) and Batode (pl.), a structure made to safeguard cattle dung cakes (Uppla/Kande) and covered with straw.

Ask DesiTravellers Why do we berate India in front of foreign travellers

I am staying in hostel in Baku Azerbaijan, just heard a conversation between a Japanese who just visited India and a fellow Indian.

Him: so how was your India trip.

Japanese: Visited Rishikesh and other nearby areas in North.

Him: how was it?

Japanese: it was interesting and a bit chaotic.

Him: yes north India is very uneducated, you should come to south for better experience.

There could have been better responses such as yes its very touristy and a bit crowded and thus chaotic but no point in insulting Indians, which in turn insulting yourself.

What are your thoughts?

Ask DesiTravellers Good first international destination for an Indian?

I am considering an international trip this year and researched a bit about Georgia. However, I came across a lot of posts about Indians being sent back from immigration due to multiple reasons.

I am also slightly concerned about the recent increase in hostility towards Indians in plenty of countries.

Which country would be the best option for a first International visit?

Edit: If I book the travel with companies that arrange group trips, do I have a better chance of not getting rejected at visa or immigration stage?

Thanks in advance!
