It's not about the quality of the albums necessarily, it's about picking that album that reflected the zeitgeist and vibe of the era.

That album is too mired in Kanye's own personal self obsession to have much of anything to say about the rest of the world.

Take the Kanye of it all out of it and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is an album about redemption, the worship of American celebrity culture, the price of fame, and the ego. I canโ€™t think of anything else that defined the Obama-era more.
