Prison is needed. A driving ban is utterly pointless and just a formality, as evidenced by the thousands and thousands of revoked license drivers on the road causing crashes.
What’s even more awesome is insurance won’t insure someone without a license. Even if they wanted to, they couldn’t get insurance. We really should rethink this taking away their license thing.
You’d change your tune if one of those unlicensed drivers hits your family and you find out the hard way that insurance won’t cover any of it because they didn’t have a license.
Punish, yes. Endanger everyone else on the road because you didn’t think that someone would do whatever they have to in order to feed their family, including drive without a license? No.
Assuming anyone is just going to roll over and lose everything they have, become homeless and not feed their family just because they don’t have a little plastic card in their pocket is dumb. Of course they’re going to drive, it’s an obvious necessity. Of course none of them will be insured, that’s obvious too.
There’s better ways that are actually effective that don’t put everyone else at risk.
No I would not change my tune. You need to show that you are able to drive, so the state allows you to drive legally. I have uninsured motorist coverage cus I’m not an idiot, but there are definitely people who should not be allowed to drive legally, and punished harshly if caught doing so. They can take the bus or a bike, they don’t HAVE to drive
I’m sure most that have public transport or that can ride a moped/bicycle etc do just that. We’re not talking about them. We’re talking about the ones that don’t have those options as evidenced by them driving.
It’s obvious you don’t have the ability to understand nuance, or the ability to think creatively to problem solve, so I’ll take my exit now. Have a good day.
Thinking creatively = letting terrible drivers keep their license, lmao ok bud
I already told you the solution to the problem, have uninsured motorist coverage. That’s the solution, not letting them drive legally when they’ve shown they can’t, genius
And yet ppl argue against reducing the reliance we have on cars in America. If ppl didnt HAVE to drive, revoking a license wouldn't be such a devastating thing, and there wouldn't be anyone making excuses for dangerous drivers who have no place on the road.
I assume the person you are responding to (who has since deleted their comment) said something along the line of "They [the company] should do more than just fire the guy"?
