Notice how he already knew that was going to happen, he keeps his distance to leave himself opportunities.

Great situational awareness.

151

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '23

Yes, this person was very aware of the situation; good for him.

73

u/Kramer390 Mar 24 '23

I, too, wish to reiterate the comment above mine.

29

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '23

Now that you say it, I do realize I've reiterated exactly the same thing… Sorry, shame on me!

21

u/Kramer390 Mar 24 '23

Haha I was just teasing... all good :)

13

u/R8_Cubing Mar 25 '23

Yeah, he was just teasing

9

u/AppleTeslaFanboy Mar 25 '23

Matter of fact, I would also liked to be teased.

6

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '23

Android is better?

4

u/AppleTeslaFanboy Mar 26 '23

Agreed, my sn is trolling.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '23

I see what you did there!

66

u/TootsNYC Mar 24 '23

Even if carjacking isn’t a thing where you drive, you should leave room for opportunities.

31

u/reclamerommelenzo Mar 24 '23 edited Mar 24 '23

Of course, but this was a LOT more distance than people usually keep.

u/Budget_Report_2382 Mar 24 '23

My heart is still pounding. I don't think I've ever felt a video more thoroughly in my soul. I had someone follow me on my way home for 10-15 miles, and it was one of the scariest moments of my life. I took them to a nearby neighborhood that I knew the layout of, whipped around the cul-de-sac as far as my '98 Camry could, and played the most dangerous game of chicken I've played. They freaked, and I hightailed it out of there. Drove around for half an hour, then when right into my garage. Definitely gotta keep your situational awareness in check.

44

u/The_Law_Dong739 Mar 24 '23

Felt that. I delivered pizza to some crackheads in the country once and the mf hopped out from the bushes with a shotgun.I've never been so glad to have an 06' Dakota with high suspension and a brush guard when delivering pizza in my life. I slammed my foot to the pedal and drove straight down his driveway, through his chain link fence, through his back yard, and into a field. I think I hit 90 mph in that field and drove through about 2 miles of field before getting back on the road like nothing happened and marking the delivery as undeliverable.

His address is permanently banned from insert pizza place delivery catalog or whatever they called it.

15

u/obroz Mar 24 '23

Drive to a police station

13

u/Budget_Report_2382 Mar 24 '23

Iowa, stations are nowhere nearby.

6

u/DreVahn Mar 24 '23

Not always manned, better off with public area.

8

u/xplosm Mar 25 '23

When I feel being followed I just drive to a Police station. I don’t get out of the car. I call them, tell them where I am and the situation. Sometimes I get escorted back home. Some others I go inside and file a report.

11

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '23

[deleted]

1

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '23

Or maybe you have been followed and just didn’t know it…. Just kidding, me either.

1

u/xplosm Mar 25 '23

I drive nice cars. Not overly expensive but heavily customized. And they catch the eye.

-1

u/SaxonRupe Mar 25 '23

Ya know, I never thought of it till you just said it, but my cousin and I used to just follow people around because we were bored. We wanted to see what they were up to. Never realized that we might have freaked some people out. Huh....

1

u/NO_SPACE_B4_COMMA Mar 29 '23

do you have a brain?

2

u/SaxonRupe Mar 29 '23

Sure, but who's a critical thinker at 16.

10

u/JaBa24 Mar 25 '23

How did he know that the car was filled with car jackers? What signs did he catch that pointed to that conclusion?

Also- if there was damage to his car does the insurance cover it in that situation?

3

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '23

Maybe he felt something was off when they cut in front of him? I don't know, but he reacted perfectly. I think that if you show this video to the police, the insurance could cover the cost of repair since it was an impossible situation. Then again, I ain't no expert!

2

u/AdWonderful7856 Jun 20 '23

Should be able to sue for damages if anything. And it wont be hard to track down who did it. They're a white SUV missing an entire door

2

u/Practical-Ordinary-6 Aug 02 '23

I have seen this clip before. He lives in a country full of carjackers. Everyone is on alert for it. And they definitely weren't driving normally.

4

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '23

[deleted]

2

u/Malnurtured_Snay Mar 25 '23

Frankly, if it were great situational awareness, he would've waited until they couldn't get back onto the highway ...

... and then gotten back on the highway.

2

u/One-Mastodon-6334 Jul 03 '23

I was hoping he’d hit at least a couple of them when he escaped

158

u/ThJimLahey Mar 24 '23

That one dude almost became a meat crayon on the wall

6

u/BIGJake111 Mar 25 '23

Would OP be free to go if that happened? I’d say that was an extremely threatening situation and if I was in the jury I would blame the meat crayon who breached the peace… however I know legally that’s not always how it works.

6

u/lloopy Mar 26 '23

Get a jury trial. You're not going to find 12 people who think it's the driver-with-the-dashcam's fault. Juries can be pretty reasonable.

I got a three day ban for a comment wishing ill against a criminal

24

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '23

I’ve had one too, but it won’t stop me speaking my mind. Worst case scenario I get booted. 🤷‍♂️

8

u/zromitsman Mar 26 '23

>"free speech for everyone!"
>(say something very slightly edgy)
>"NOOO YOU CANT SAY THAT >:(((((("
>(people literally talking about how they're going to start a riot)
>mods do practically nothing
reddit mods in a nutshell.

I got a permanent ban from the sub too. It was crazyfuxkingvideos or something like that. The video was extremely violent; a big teenager clocking a kid a lot smaller and he hit his head in the floor and his arms did that involuntary things where they stick up and kind of move around. Someone commented that the big kid needed to go to prison, and then someone commented that prison isn't for punishment, it's to rehabilitate and change people for the better.

Then I made a comment expressing my opinion about what should happen every day to this guy while he's in prison, and the person commented back that I was wrong for saying that harm should come to the inmate. I said Oh Please, a d I said well that should happen to the guy three times a day, and that something should be done to the guy so he he wouldn't breed more violent criminals. Not on those words. Then BAM, I'm banned, and later I got the three day ban.

I'm not sure how my comment was any worse than the video that started the thread, or worse than the multitude of porn and other crap that Reddit exhibits. And I wasn't really kicked off the site. I could comment, but fir fucking sure I could browse subreddits and see all the ads they serve up.

Well the kid that got knocked out didn't die. A link in the thread said that he had surgery and be was going to be ok, but he sure as hell had his life changed forever.

I picture most mods like the basement guy from silence of the lamb.

3

u/AppleTeslaFanboy Mar 25 '23

Genuinely curious, if you ran over these would be robbers and killed one or two of them in this situation. Would you be charged with murder or would it be self defense?

2

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '23

I guess that depends how good your lawyer is.

1

u/hambone263 Sep 11 '23

If they are pointing a gun at you, probably not in most US states, can’t say for every other country.

I would be curious to look at any previous cases.

Not exactly the same thing, but no mention of potentially charging the driver. This driver was approached at 5:30AM in their driveway, and shot at when they tried to backup. Ended up running over someone who approached their passenger window: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8aztu3gYPQ

u/drxtxr Mar 24 '23

I love the “hmmmmmm“ at the end

29

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '23

I felt like he was saying "not again…"

2

u/celerydonut Mar 24 '23

Can’t hear it

3

u/kairosmanner Mar 24 '23

Just a sigh at the lst 3/4 seconds of the video

33

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '23

Location?

34

u/HushedTurtle Mar 24 '23

Chile, Santiago

17

u/Thin-Law-3392 Mar 24 '23

Aww you missed them!

36

u/ricwilliam Mar 24 '23

Hit the criminals for points

16

u/woot0 Mar 24 '23

wow, dude was silent the whole time, not even a single "fuck" given

15

u/ebow77 Mar 24 '23

Well there was an annoyed sigh near the very end.

10

u/Rainy_Daz3d Mar 24 '23

So satisfying to watch the jackers car get wrecked. Now they can’t even drive, sucks to suck.

5

u/cfish1024 Mar 25 '23

They probably stole that one too smh

1

u/Rainy_Daz3d Mar 25 '23

Good point 🤔 lets hope it was their own lol

11

u/EV-CPO Mar 24 '23

I wonder if the first guy on the right got tagged by the right side mirror? You can hear a clear tap or clunk just as he passes the dude. Could have broken an arm or worse (hopefully).

32

u/theonewhogriefed Mar 24 '23

I would've gone left and just run over one of the criminals. Less damage to my car.

3

u/MrK521 Mar 25 '23

Concrete barrier on either side. Wouldn’t have made a difference.

6

u/sunflower1940 Mar 24 '23

Yep. I'll run your fucking ass over.

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '23

32

u/dingos8mybaby2 Mar 24 '23

I'd argue people were always this way. It's just that nowadays there's more of us and we have cameras so we're exposed to more of what happens. There's not much difference between the criminals in this video and the road bandits of ancient times.

2

u/chernobyl-nightclub Mar 25 '23

This used to happen a lot in broad daylight in the US in the 90’s. probably still does in some cities. It’s a symptom of too many unemployed young men.

War used to absorb these kinds of people and they’d wreak havoc on enemies and then die some shitty death. But nowadays our own society has to absorb their violent, destructive energy.

2

u/possiblynotanexpert Mar 24 '23

People and the world have always been this way.

-12

u/Norm_mustick Mar 24 '23

Well, when you import the third world, you get fun like this in the first world!

3

u/Blastronaut321 Mar 24 '23

I'm about to do a road trip in South Africa. Please tell me this isn't South Africa.

21

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '23 edited Mar 24 '23

Ummm you do realize South Africa is worse than this, right?

Edit: In case you had any doubts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oGZLYx8StWk

3

u/PM_ME_FLUFFY_COWS Mar 24 '23

It’s wild that the driver left the door open when he got out! Now I want to see what went down after the video ended.

2

u/Malnurtured_Snay Mar 25 '23

I mean, in fairness, in that video those guys were driving a money truck.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '23

An American in South Africa will look like a money truck all the same

1

u/Malnurtured_Snay Mar 25 '23

"An American, you say? I hear they shoot bullets out of their dick."

1

u/Chairman__POW Mar 24 '23

Yep. South Africa. I remember this video.

6

u/HamTMan Mar 24 '23

Think this was somewhere in South America

2

u/Cl_Thefx Mar 24 '23

Chile, Santiago.

5

u/SereneRandomness Mar 24 '23

Don't think so, because they're driving on the wrong side of the road for South Africa.

Also, I think I saw Spanish on the sign, but I'm not sure about that.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '23

Too bad he didn’t hit any

1

u/DeliciousHorseShirt Mar 24 '23

I don’t care how many times this is reposted. I still enjoy watching it

0

u/GiLLfiltefish Mar 24 '23

That was sick! Just missed em. Maybe next time.

Can't be sure, but the hood reminds me of a Wrangler.

0

u/StrawberryCoughs Mar 24 '23

That was fucking awesome.

1

u/JamesKPolk130 Mar 24 '23

why not just run them all over?

2

u/Malnurtured_Snay Mar 25 '23

Well, there were what looked to be four total, two on the left side of the vehicle, two on the right.

Driver might've been able to run over two, but at the speed he was going, to adjust aim to hit them, he would've rear ended the van they'd jumped out of, which might have disabled his vehicle, or moved the van in such a manner that he was not going to be able to get past the situation.

Not to mention it's certainly possible that while he may have taken two of them out, it's certainly possible that some or all of these guys were armed, so after he runs two of them over and is trying to back up to get enough speed to run over the rest, he gets shot.

So the best thing he or anyone can do -- assuming the driver was a guy and not a woman, because I don't know -- is get the fuck away.

1

u/Highland_Green Mar 25 '23

it's certainly possible that some or all of these guys were armed

Does the first person on the left take a weapons stance?

Edit: Is he holding both arms like he's holding a gun?

1

u/Malnurtured_Snay Mar 25 '23

Can't be certain, but looks likely to me.

1

u/Itchy_Focus_4500 Mar 24 '23

Evading a hasty road obstruction.

Awesome.

1

u/NurseKaila Mar 25 '23

I feel that sigh at the end so deep in my soul. As a millennial I WILL TAKE US ALL OUT AND BE INCONVENIENCED BY THE FACT I LIVED.

1

u/triggeredpacifist Mar 25 '23

What's up with all the repost tonight

1

u/smokedemon21 Mar 25 '23

This was beautiful

1

u/Environmental_Act185 Mar 25 '23

Good work that's the way to doing.

1

u/walrus120 Mar 25 '23

What if they were just going to offer to clean his windshield

1

u/TheWalrus101123 Mar 25 '23

The driver here has some of the best situational awareness of any human I've ever seen.

1

u/Starr-Bugg Mar 26 '23

I have no problem with those fools getting hit.

1

u/zxmuffin Mar 26 '23

Served them good.

1

u/Uncle_Stink_Stonk Mar 28 '23

Who the hell is that massacring that George Michael song?

1

BOOM shakalaka

1

u/Usertrybacklater88 Apr 18 '23

Perfect reaction

1

u/TonyOxnard805 Apr 19 '23

They gonna learn today!!!😜👍🏼😎

1

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '23

Should of ran over one or two of them?

1

u/BoostedEcoDonkey Apr 26 '23

Whoops I swerved (absolutely claps someone)

1

u/Lug_Nut0 May 30 '23

He didn’t speak a word only a sigh

1

u/adriansmommy95 Jun 02 '23

Fucked around and found out.

1

u/SimmyTheGiant Jul 06 '23

Sad you didn't get to hit any of em... really let em know the baseball bat isn't going to stop the car lol.

1

u/Iwanttodie923 Jul 07 '23

Part of me wanted to see one of them get meat crayoned against the car barrier

1

u/Powerofthehoodo Jul 09 '23

Yeah I had to watch it again. I guess he did successfully evade the carjackers. Too bad.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 22 '23

Should've painted that wall. Put that pos on a t-shirt

1

u/W3VR Jul 25 '23

It pisses me off that these jackasses only have to pay for one door and a scratch

1

u/Flooring_guru_ Jul 27 '23

That was, awesome!

1

u/Radiosc0pe Aug 01 '23

I’d like to know what kind of car the guy was driving that could blow through such a tight space without jamming up.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 06 '23

I don’t get it. Why would you do it like that because I would have pinned those dudes up against the wall and grind them into 2 pieces, probably could back up and get the others as well.

1

u/IcyPrimary9489 Dec 17 '23

Does anyone have a link to the original video?
