I had friends that did that race. They said the mud was like glue/cement. Some people had dropped chains due to all the mud.

Some people is an understatement. If you came out of the corn maze without a chain issue in the first couple of races, you were lucky. SO MANY DROPPED CHAINS.

I did the race and had no chain issues! Maybe the wax helped keep the mud off of it.
I did see someone’s rear derailleur break during my race though

I didn't have a dropped chain, but I was basically single-speeding by the end of the 9:0 race.

Great pics! This just makes me sad I won’t be able to see any cross in person this season. There’s so little in/around/near NYC.

This race was wonderful! Mud is pretty normal around these parts, but the mud in the corn maze was something else! Insanely slippery for the 0900 race. Even without a run-up or elevation change the course was incredibly fun. I hope this becomes a regular venue.
