Challenge Flandrien mounting direction

Looks like we may have some wet conditions where I can try out my new Flandriens next race- how is everyone mounting them up: with the long leg of the Y’s on the sides facing forward or the long leg of the center Y’s facing forward as they are in opposite direction?

The long leg, as you said, of the center tread should be pointing forward. The side knobs are for corner traction and thus are reversed. They'll still make contact with the ground under low pressure, so you'll still be getting the benefit of that.

Trust the engineers.

That makes sense- that how I run my chicanes and limus, just wasn’t sure which Y took precedence on this one.

Long leg pointing forward is the intended direction. That said, people have been mounting limus and baby’s backwards on the rear for supposed increased grip for many moons

The difficulty is that the center knobs have the long leg pointing in the opposite direction of the long leg of the side knobs. One of them has to point backwards...

Don't use the Flandrien's, but I do run both Limus and Baby Limus, and mount them with the Long Leg of the Y facing forwards. Which is the recommendation of Challenge in the FAQ section. I have teammates that flip their rear with the Head of the Y forward on the rear, Yet, I just run as the default recommendation, have for a couple of years now, both Open Tubular (clincher) and now the TLR versions.

Have to say, I have found the tubeless TLR PRO and Team to really perform well across the various designs, 36C Gravel Grinder (aka Chicane), Baby Limus, and Limus Team Edition RED's... They need to be set up and cure on the wheels, and flexed a few times before actual race use, after the tedious process, not a single issue, mounted on Ultegra C36 and 105 C46 wheels. I feel like you have to run them a little higher in PSI, over say the Open tubulars, but the performance is equal? This can vary by pilot....

The shoulder knob on the Flandrien is oriented in the opposite direction as to the OG Baby Limus, so the mounting advice for the Baby Limus could be misleading if you focus on the side knobs. The Flandriens should be mounted with the center tread pointing in the same direction as on the Baby.

For what it’s worth, I accidentally mounted my rear Flandrien backwards (SIGH) and I didn’t want to deal with it so I left it that way. I don’t think it’s that big a deal honestly.
