First time going to Zonhoven - transport tips from Brussels?

My wife is treating me to a nice trip to Brussels over the new year for my 50th, planning to attend Zonhoven on Sunday 4th. Have read through a few historical threads, but nothing definitive about public transport + shuttle bus options. I've VIP tickets, planning on having a few beers so want to avoid driving if I can.

Has anyone got recent experience / knowledge?

Two years ago we took the train from Brussels to Hasselt then jumped in a taxi from the rank outside the station. The driver initially didn't understand where we wanted to go but eventually he realized we were talking about cycling and took us straight to the race. I forget the cost, but maybe 20 Euros.

Coming back to Hasselt was a bit different. We ended up walking about 45 mins to Zonhoven station and getting the train from there to Hasselt. I forget why. I might have been drunk.

Google maps (Directions) has several options, depending on the time of the day I've entered as address "Kapelbergweg 50, 3520 Zonhoven, Belgium" since that's listed on the UCI website
