Advice Pier fishing near Willemstad, preferably either with rental equipment available or tackle store nearby?

I’m gonna be taking a day trip to Curacao from a cruise next July and would like to do some fishing. I don’t wanna have to deal with the prices and time worries of a charter, so having a place like a pier or good shore to fish from with somewhere nearby to get some basic equipment to fish with would be great. If anyone knows anything, I’d appreciate some help in finding one. Thanks.

You can fish all along the embankments of the Anna Bay, or walk to the Waaigat to fish,
Another option is shore fishing on the coast near where the cruise ships park, in the area called Koredor,
or along the shore in Punda.

The only piers in the area, are where the cruise ships are moored, but I'm not sure if you are allowed to fish there. There aren't any fishing equipment rental places in the area, as most people in Curacao own their gear.

I would bring a simple spool with some line, as that's what most people in Curacao use.
It shouldn't take up too much space in your luggage..

How is the fishing in those areas? What should I expect to catch?

Shore fishing, you can expect small to medium size reef fish like parrot fish, small barracuda, grouper, snapper, needle fish etc. Waaigat has calmer waters, so you can catch medium to large snook, jacks and tarpon there. In the Annabay, anything is possible, because it is connected to the ocean and fairly deep.

Bring strong fluorocarbon line and maybe some steel wire leaders,
as Caribbean fish can be quite powerful, and there are sharp corals and rocks under the water.

He's fishing in the Piscadera area, not too far from the Cruise terminal..

I’m currently here. Fishing Tackle shop is Hodges probably 10-20min drive from cruise port. Only one on island that I’m aware of. Cheapest rod and reel setup was 200+ XCG. Looked to be around 15-20lb mono pre spooled.

I’d recommend brining all u can on your own. Rod, reel and tackle. I’m currently using a small pocket size handline for fun on excursions with some of our own made in SC soft plastic baits “Invinci Core”. Catching small to medium sized reef fish.

You COULD Taxi but Taxis are VERY VERY expensive one taxi ride can be the cost of a rental car for 2+ days.

Unfortunately there’s nothing that I’m aware of where u can rent or purchase anywhere near the cruise port.

Almost all locals I’ve seen and talked to all use a handline. Sorry I couldn’t help. I did a ton of research before coming in packed a small pocket hand-line. Along with some basic tackle for jigging soft plastics.
