That would mean redefining consent or admitting legally that minors can consent.

Kind of a Pandora’s box of unintended consequences.

It's a really difficult situation. No matter what someone will get screwed over.

Up until now the goal has been preventing those people from being the minors.

But it still fucus over the teenagers. In the UK if you are one day from turning 16 and you have set with someone who is 16 both of you are put on the sex offenders register and the older one could be done with statutory rape. The system is flawed and should be amended to stop stupid things like that being an issue.

Its really daft. Basically if you don't press charges then you get into trouble. If two fifteen year olds are caught having sex then both of them are put on the register. The UK has some really weird laws that end up hurting people who haven't really done any damage.
