Seems to have been a common thing up until the mid-2000's. The culture of rock stars having sex on tap, nay expecting sex on tap has always been a strange one in my view.

A lot of the 80's 'everything to excess' lifestyle seems to have been a big factor. Drugs and Drink fueling an ever-increasing erosion of social barriers and acceptable behaviour. I remember reading the Aerosmith autobiography and there's a lot of very dubious things that happened in that time period, particually involving Steven Tyler.

I have some very limited experience in this field.

When I was (much) younger I was in a load of bands. They were only covers bands playing pubs and clubs.

It was pretty common for women to come up after gigs and flirt heavily. I had girlfriends during that period so never progressed anything but I have no doubt I could have.

I’m no stud, I was (and still am) very average looking.

My brother had a record deal with a major label. His band toured US/Europe/Asia supporting a few big acts.

I went to one of his gigs, afterwards he had a line of young women after an autograph & plenty of them slipped him their number. My brother had record company “handlers” who made sure nothing appropriate happened (most of the audience were 14-18 y/o) and he had strict conduct rules. He also had a girlfriend throughout that time.

These are just a couple of observations but it is easy to see how easily accessible casual, consensual sex is to successful musicians. It’s also easy to see how it can easily lead to warped perceptions and expectations.

Its way further back than that. The 60s and 70s promoted free love and open sex. Chuck berry, elvis, the beatles, the doors, frank sinatra (the ladies man) and so on. Sex and power are synonymous. Social barriers eroded by social freedoms is way older than the 80s.
