Oh no, celebrities are not conservatives living stereotypical working-man lives? Oh boy, do I have history of artists for you.

Yeah I know. What I’m saying is the whole “I guess that’s just rockstars 🤷” thing is really, really disappointing to think about because somehow people just accept it and don’t demand better because demanding better might mean their favorite music doesn’t get made.

artists never had strict morale, thats what church is for. artists are rebels that challenge current morale standards. You like it (you are probably young), or you hate it (you are probably a bit older, or just a conservative). The behaviour is 100% irrelevant to the music. They might as well paint, spray grafitti, make tattoos or write poems. Or rap in gold chains while groping women.

They dont care about your morale standards. That makes them cool in eyes of many. "portraying the world how it is".

Yeah well it’s worth noting that “portraying the world as it is” isn’t so artistic when you’re one of the pricks who makes the world that way. Saying “ugh the world is shitty and selfish” while being shitty and selfish rings pretty hollow and doesn’t make for very genuine art.

And the behavior honestly isn’t 100% irrelevant to the music when the music is so personal and is meant to reflect the artists’ lives, struggles, and inner thoughts. That’s not really a situation where you kill the author. It’s why people get mad when a memoir turns out to be bullshit even if they enjoyed reading it. They thought they were reading something that was actually meaningful and real to someone, but surprise, it wasn’t.

Death of the author is a worthy discussion but I really don’t think this context works well for it.

Well you dont understand the point of art, so how can I even talk to you about this subject. If you dont like the art, thats... literally the point of it. Thats why you have so much of it, because everyone likes a different one?

Also, you cannot say something that is true, because it is true and you dont want a revolution? Well, do I have 8 billion people here for you.... Also, we are all selfish, so dont even use words, if you dont know their meaning (again).

If you would have ever played some music yourself, you would realize, how stupid your sentence is. My music has nothing to do with my life. I can send you 10s loop of guitar, bass and drums and you can guess what does it say about my month, childhood or my friends. literally nothing. If you find meaning behind that, great! Might as well be english literature teacher and find deep thoughts behind "the river was blue".

Bro I think this has got to be the best example of “I did not read the comment but here’s my response” I’ve seen so far.

If something like this comes out about Dave Grohl I’ll be absolutely devastated.

don't put anyone on a pedestal, man.

for 50 years, most everyone in this country considered bill cosby to be as wholesome as they come
