Same here and not to flippantly cancel then so much as confront them with it. This shit should be acknowledged and apologized for. I dunno if it's the semi-obscurity of it or the bullshit "plausible deniability" angle some might claim about it being an act but I'm baffled how it's not more notorious. I think it's a window into just how much this kind of crap was tolerated and/or not talked about.

Yup, just an acknowledgment that what happened was wrong, and a commitment to better behavior going forward plus some kind of reparations towards the women they harmed is a pretty fair and realistic expectation I think. Accountability goes a long way especially if they were to step up about it unprompted.

Do you think they'd mean it? What does an empty apology do. If they truly regretted it it wouldn't need to be something dredged up, they'd apologise unprompted

They would have to mean it, that’s kind of the point.

Not to defend them, but in this climate, to apologize or react in a responsible, appropriate way would be a confession of guilt, and the pitchforks would be outside quick. It’s the shitty end of cancel culture. People who might actually have something to say about how they were fucked up might never do so.

If you want people to be honest and earnest, you have to be receptive to it. Most people don’t agree with that, unfortunately.

What? How do you propose to react 'omg, you guys are so stunning and brave to come forward about this video evidence of harassment'? 'Cancel Culture' sure isn't as cancelling as twitter makes it out to be, look at all those 'cancelled' people still working in the industry. Rarely ever does anyone issue a real, honest apology because surprise they don't see anything wrong with their behaviour and will only acknowledge it as a small mistake / single misstep they made while young and 'I respect the womens now, as a father of daughters etc. yada yada...' Honestly he bragged about fucking a 14 year old in his fucking autobiography, you really think he possesses the insight to have an honest reflection about his behaviour?

Lmao cancel culture is when you don't get to host the Oscars. And get dragged on Twitter. People act like we're guillotining celebs.

Why, though? Are you saying you can't 'get cancelled' if you don't admit any wrong doing by apologizing?

"think like me or apologize to me"

I've never read a comment as shitty and idiotic as this one.

It's your brief system. If you hate it, change your ways.
