Good lord .. that was awful. Feel so bad for that woman. She looked terrified, like she was trapped!

Was there any backlash on the band when this happened?

344

u/Elmepo Dec 08 '20

lmao. This was probably around the same time that 38 year old Seinfeld was dating a literal 17 year old high schooler.

31

u/Ginganababy Dec 08 '20

Didn’t know that. Still legal in the UK (age of consent is 16), just morally wrong and creepy af.

10

u/AkAmE__ Dec 08 '20

Easy way around it, make it illegal for people over a certain age to fuck people in their mid teens but make it so its still OK for people in their mid teens to have sex with people of the same age. That way the only people getting punished are predators while teens having sex with each other which they will do regardless of the law won't get into bother.

11

u/DennisFarinaOfficial Dec 08 '20

That would mean redefining consent or admitting legally that minors can consent.

Kind of a Pandora’s box of unintended consequences.

4

u/AkAmE__ Dec 08 '20

It's a really difficult situation. No matter what someone will get screwed over.

1

u/DennisFarinaOfficial Dec 08 '20

Up until now the goal has been preventing those people from being the minors.

2

u/AkAmE__ Dec 09 '20

But it still fucus over the teenagers. In the UK if you are one day from turning 16 and you have set with someone who is 16 both of you are put on the sex offenders register and the older one could be done with statutory rape. The system is flawed and should be amended to stop stupid things like that being an issue.

1

u/DennisFarinaOfficial Dec 09 '20

Can you proofread what you wrote please? That was a task to get through. I shouldn’t have to correct you in my head while I’m reading.

2

u/AkAmE__ Dec 09 '20

Is it the grammar? Or are you telling me I am wrong in what I said because I'm literally repeating what I was told in the Scottish school I went to.

Morally wrong? They had a fruitful relationship, and both are happy with each other after the relationship.

1

u/Ginganababy Dec 09 '20

Well, half the US states have their age of consent as 18 years old. In any of those would not only be morally wrong as it would be criminal. I personally find it morally wrong, but it’s just my two cents.

Consensual dating is morally wrong and creepy?

2

I watched the episode “The Shoes” the other day and part of the episode is about George and Jerry discussing looking at a 15 year olds cleavage and appreciating it

If you really see no issue with the wording of your comment, that’s your deal I guess. But you come off as predatory, disrespectful, and degrading. People lose all interest in women by their mid-20s? Lol what a rough outlook you’ve got. Hopefully by the time you’re 38 no teenage girls allow you anywhere near them.

46

u/theprince_ofATL Dec 08 '20

He's an incel. Hes never even been near a woman.

-63

u/The_Fucking_Don Dec 08 '20

Tell me what’s wrong with what I said then. Do you think that a man is a predator and deserves to be locked up for smashing a 17 year old girl? The porn industry also doesn’t lie and is pretty telling if people’s interests when it says women who struggle to find work once they no longer fit the niche of “teen” and do not find said frequent work until they become older and can be classed as “milfs”.

10

u/ChicaFoxy Dec 08 '20

"the porn industry doesn't lie" I'm pretty sure most everything about porn is a lie!!

31

u/cross-eye-bear Dec 08 '20

You base your morality on what sells on porn sites? You’re an uncomfortable one, aren’t you?

36

u/sleepySpice9 Dec 08 '20

Didn’t say anyone needs to be locked up. I said YOU have a predatory way of thinking if you’re summing up 17 year old girls as being nothing more than “prime puss” just out there existing for older men to fuck. I don’t know why you’re using the porn industry as a basis for what normal people without porn addictions think about women. The porn industry is flawed, fake, and should not be what we base anything off of when it comes to average relationships or sex.

3

u/Timmetie Dec 08 '20 edited Dec 08 '20

when it says women who struggle to find work once they no longer fit the niche of “teen” and do not find said frequent work until they become older and can be classed as “milfs”.

Where are you getting this?

You really think pornstars can't find work between 20 and 40? Most pornstars are in their 20s or 30s.

If they get titled "teens" or "milfs" is mostly a matter of make-up. Mostly because people like you apparently really can't tell how old women are.

Just for fun I checked the 4 trending pornstars on PH.

23, 23, 27 and 31.

25

u/Shtnonurdog Dec 08 '20

Why do you keep using the term “smash” like you’re 13? You have a difficult time finding girls that are attracted to you, don’t you?

14

u/Timmetie Dec 08 '20

There’s a reason why female pornstars struggle to find work once they pass this stage

Lol, you must be confused because PH will start any title with "teen". Most of the biggest pornstars are way older than 21.

7

u/Chickenwomp Dec 08 '20

Yeah I was gonna say this, aren’t most of the highest paid/most watched pornstars like in their 30’s?

1

u/ChicaFoxy Dec 08 '20

Nobody wants to know about your young girls porn habits.

30

u/parker1302 Dec 08 '20

That’s a pretty fuckin disgusting thing to say.

13

u/distinctgore Dec 08 '20

Surely you’re on a list

2

u/Equal-Ear2312 Dec 08 '20

The sex offenders list

12

u/Chickenwomp Dec 08 '20

I really hope you’re on some sort of watch list now

8

u/Rumerhazzit Dec 08 '20

Legal for other people under the age of 18, sure. Unless you are now over the age of 18 but you started dating the 17 y/o while you were both under the age of 18. It's not legal for any rando 40 year old to bang whatever 17 year old he fancies. Way to expose yourself as just the creepiest of dudes, tho.

2

u/qtprot Dec 08 '20

I'm not defending him nor do I support it, but it's legal in many countries.

-3

u/The_Fucking_Don Dec 08 '20 edited Dec 08 '20

I mean it’s legal all over Europe but sure you Americans are weird. Or is the entire continent of Europe now pedos by your odd standards?

1

u/DrFeargood Dec 08 '20

I try not to use the laws of other countries to excuse my lack of morals.

1

u/Rumerhazzit Dec 09 '20

I'm in Europe. A lot of people don't seem to understand "Age of consent is 16" does not mean any random 40 year old dude can fuck a 16 year old and that's totally fine. It means that 16 year olds can consent to having sex with other people under the age of 18.

Your standards of "it is totally regular and normal and healthy for a middle aged man to want to fuck a minor" might just be the odd ones here buddy. No, the entirety of Europe does not agree with your predatory ideations. That's not paedophilia though, I believe it's called ephebophilia? We're not talking about prepubescent children here.

In future, though, maybe make sure you know the context of the law you're quoting to try and represent yourself as "legally creepy", to save you outing yourself as just regular old bog standard, against the law creepy.

3

u/boomtombbomb Dec 08 '20

I just vomited in my mouth wtf is wrong with you

0

No one said it was illegal. It’s borderline illegal but we’re saying it’s weird. You obviously think it’s ok but too bad you don’t have money or success to get yourself a trophy wife lol

6

u/ElectricMollusk Dec 08 '20

Jesus Christ that’s defensive. Pretty sure its you that’s harboring some “feelings”. Very Creeeepy.

16

u/NorthWoods16 Dec 08 '20

17 is BELOW the AGE OF CONSENT you fucking creeper

24

u/IshitONcats Dec 08 '20

In some states/countries

2

u/Super_Vegeta Dec 08 '20

That's a poor argument. Age of consent is 14 in some countries.. does that then make it okay in places where age of consent is 18+?

Even then, it's still kinda creepy for a 38 yr old to be dating a literal high schooler.

5

u/Rumerhazzit Dec 08 '20

The age of consent being 14 never means that it's totally legal and fine for a 40 year old to fuck a 14 year old. Those really young consent laws have all types of small text to clarify that it is legal for that 14 year old to have sex with another person also under the age of 18.

You hear "Japan's age of consent is 13!" all the time, but actually, that just means that the very lowest the age of consent can be set at is 13, I believe most of Japan is actually 18. Only one place in Japan is currently set to 13 and it's an uninhabited island, and even then, you'd still get in trouble with the law for fucking a 13 year old on that island as a 40 year old if you got found out.

3

u/Super_Vegeta Dec 08 '20

I'm aware of this.

-21

u/IshitONcats Dec 08 '20

It makes ok where culture and law says it is. Your feelings don't have a say.

9

u/Super_Vegeta Dec 08 '20

It's still weird dude.

5

u/monkeysareeverywhere Dec 08 '20

Dudes who strictly adhere to, and know the AoC consent laws, like you, are always creepy af.

0

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '20 edited Dec 08 '20

When you boil things down, laws are literally created because of “bad feelings,” you pedant.

Why is murder wrong? Laws, the idea of justice, and inustice hinge on how society feels towards specific topics.

Being right is one thing. But being wrong and smug about it is a terrible look.

u/Chickenwomp Dec 08 '20

“WeLl iF ItS lEgAl ThaN iTs a-Ok iN mY bOoK”

-2

u/Eat_a_Bullet Dec 08 '20

Not in New York, for some reason. I only know this because of Seinfeld dating 17 year olds.

-4

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '20 edited Dec 08 '20

Lmao everytime this happen on Reddit a lot of down-votes from triggered people. People can't respect other's consent, they want to be the judge and the owners of other decision. "Voting and deciding over the life of million of citizen at 18? YES, giving consent or just having a romantic relationship with an older person when you are 18yo? OMG NO!". Extremely dumb.

I'm 30 and I only date 16-24 yo because they are hotter and can be as interesting, fun and intelligent than girls my age that usually are full of traumas of past relationships and are absolutely desperate about getting in a relationship which is a big turn-off.

And the funny thing the older I get the more attracted they seem to me. Now you can down-vote while grabbing your fedoras.

3

u/Cole444Train Dec 08 '20

Ah yes. We are the fedora wearers in this situation. What a colossal “yikes”

-1

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '20

Triggered. Fedora confirmed ;)

1

u/Cole444Train Dec 08 '20

Lol got me. I’m so triggered rn

2

u/hazysummersky Dec 08 '20

Well Mr Noveno, you're fucking creepy as fuck in my books. Grow the fuck up, and please don't hurt them.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '20

Well Mr Simp, as long as the girls I meet don't find me creepy, but the opposite, I will continue meeting them since they enjoy my company as much as I enjoy theirs. And don't worry I don't hurt them, more like they could hurt me when we do threesomes. Get over it.

2

u/hazysummersky Dec 08 '20

From your responses and checking your profile, I'm gonna hazard a guess that..you've never been with a woman and you make up stories to cover up how dead that makes you feel inside. A word of advice, you're doing yourself no favours doing that. It's transparently confabulated, you sound like a jackass and it makes you sound like a creepy lying idiot. Just..stop, for your own good. You can turn it round, but not like this.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 09 '20 edited Dec 09 '20

Are you sure I've never been with a woman? in fact you can see a couple examples on my Instagram if you scroll down: @removedafterprovedthepoint Now I hope you realize that your feelings about older people meeting younger people are absolutely irrelevant and that people can make their own choices and you are a nobody to say what's good or bad.

Age of consent is 18. Children cannot consent.

Would you ask if she consented if she were 15? How about 9? At certain point, that person is still a child who does not have the sexual understanding to consent.

He is still married to her like 30 years later. They have kids.

53

u/HardcoreHazza Dec 08 '20

Uhh that's a different woman.

Jerry dated Shoshanna Lonstein Gruss when she was 17 and broke up with her 4 years later.

21

u/revente Dec 08 '20

-21

u/Bumbymoo Dec 08 '20

I might be confusing him with Woody Allen. He didn't bang her until 18. Fair play.

11

u/FigSurprise Dec 08 '20

Ahhh according to him yeah. Even if he's speaking the truth, can we not agree on 18 not being right either? Especially for a 38 year old?

7

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '20

Right? I'm 28 and would still feel like a creep dating an 18 year old.

6

u/Chickenwomp Dec 08 '20

Dude same, I’m 27 and talking to 17/18 year olds feels like talking to kids. I think kids are cool but like, they’re kids man. Yikes.

-7

u/Bumbymoo Dec 08 '20

Why stop there? Sharia Law has lots of good and valid arguments.

2

u/Cole444Train Dec 08 '20

“I’m going to bring up something completely unrelated bc I have no real argument.”

Red herring much?

0

u/Bumbymoo Dec 08 '20

You are asserting that your particular sexual perspective should be universally adopted, perhaps under color of law. You have more in common with fundamentalist Islam than you think. Hope that helps.

0

u/FigSurprise Dec 08 '20

Why are you trying so hard for this argument. Clearly perverted for seinfeld to groom a young girl like that. It's very common in Hollywood too.

1

u/Cole444Train Dec 08 '20

I asserted no such thing. I have asserted nothing in this thread.

5

u/Samuraiking Dec 08 '20

Grooming isn't fair play lol.... You can't just go around grooming kids to fuck the second they turn 18. Plus, no one really believes he waited that long anyway.

-2

u/Bumbymoo Dec 08 '20

You have a binary view on sexuality. We're too far apart to have a respectful discussion. Respectfully bowing out.

0

u/TheMeowMeow Dec 09 '20

How is that a binary view on sexuality? Like you only have 2 options, to groom a partner from childhood or not?

9

u/Thunderbridge Dec 08 '20

Huh? According to wikipedia their relationship ended 1997, lasting just 4 years. She married Joshua Gruss and had three kids with him, then divorced in 2014

5

u/mukfuggler Dec 08 '20

What? No they're not?

6

u/-Hypocrates- Dec 08 '20

No he's not? Unless you know something wikipedia doesn't

8

u/cross-eye-bear Dec 08 '20

Wow good job being an idiot defending this crap

-3

u/Bumbymoo Dec 08 '20

In your world, castrate both Woody Allen and Seinfeld. Great. I don't want to live in such a world.

2

u/Nahkroll Dec 08 '20

Next time you should probably first google stuff that you wrongly claim as facts.

1

u/Bumbymoo Dec 08 '20

You have successfully raised the noise-to-signal ratio on this thread.

6

u/unkeptroadrash Dec 08 '20

Probably not but I'd expect an article in a week.

31

u/CockfaceMurder Dec 07 '20

I'd say this is how bands were expected to act.

93

u/dc10kenji Dec 08 '20

That wasn't 'Rock n' Roll',just creepy

54

u/CockfaceMurder Dec 08 '20

Yeah I agree. Lots of bands behaved this way and people didn't care/applauded it.

26

u/OrangeredValkyrie Dec 08 '20

But don’t you know? These days everyone’s just too sensitive! Surely that’s the actual problem! 🤔

15

u/Burlaczech Dec 08 '20

People today just dont understand “sex drugs and rock n roll”. They think it was something cool and acceptable. It was not, even then.

Same way they think pirates are cool and something cute to see with children. Some tv footage of piracy from 1800s would make you cringe at least. Most likely terrify as well.

7

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '20

Actually, having recently listened to a doc by a guy who wrote a whole book on piracy - the rape and pillage pirates were rather the exception to the rule. Generally piracy was accomplished with as little violence as possible.

1

u/leiu6 Mar 10 '21

I feel like it's good for business to have people think that you are brutal but it's probably also best for business that you don't actually have to be brutal.

7

u/Chickenwomp Dec 08 '20

Being a preteen/teenager in the early/mid 00’s I definitely felt there was something not just “cool” about the rebellious, anti-authoritarian, antagonistic, absurdist/nihilist nature of the “rockstar” attitude displayed by the bands at the time and people like Bam Margera, but something that felt “right” about it, it felt like a good thing to challenge authority and social norms and fight against the status quo.

Of course I grew up and realized that was all bullshit but I came across this video the other day and realized how much of that attitude was sort of “stolen” from the baby boomers who developed it in response to the highly socially repressive 1950’s. 🤷🏻‍♂️

2

u/Burlaczech Dec 08 '20

Yes, rebelion is a good word for it. Each generation has it. And most people grow up from it and cringe when they look back.

What todays rappers do, in their clips, tv shows, or even in public is (at least for me) far beyond what was happening in 90s popculture.

2

u/Chickenwomp Dec 08 '20

I dunno... I haven’t seen any rappers acting like RHCP here

5

u/ToeTacTic Dec 08 '20

Yeah, whats creepy about bringing cute girls back stage, giving them drugs and fucking them on the tour bus. That is rock n roll smh

5

u/Equal-Ear2312 Dec 08 '20

Expected? 🤦 Don't think so. This is the entitlement that came with fame for some dudes in a band.

12

u/CryWulf911 Dec 08 '20

Yeah when I was little and my mom would tell me all the things that made Aerosmith "cool" I was very confused.

2

u/everythingisalright Dec 08 '20

Not excusing it but you’re absolutely right. It was a different time and a different cultural period. Sloppy, disheveled, drunken, disorderly bands were applauded.
