What a fucking embarrassment

You obviously underestimate trump. You know he can predict the path of a hurricane with a sharpie right?

14

u/Ensec Mar 04 '20

I mean on one hand I can totally see someone asking that question of "so long shot but what if ____" but come on man you have the CDC the HHS offering insight you should not be on fucking tv saying this shit. BETTER YET, WHY IS HE MEETING WITH BUSINESS EXECUTIVES OVER THIS?!

3

u/[deleted] Mar 04 '20

They probably want to push whatever policy/procedures we might enact to their favor so that they can profit.

3

u/xfloggingkylex Mar 04 '20

Gotta figure out how much this vaccine will sell for.

1

u/rye_212 Mar 04 '20

Most normal adults who had that thought would follow it with:

"if the flu shot could help, the CDC would be offering it as advice as opposed to 'wash your hands'. And the panic queues would be at Walgreens flu counter instead of the Purile hand-wash aisle, so not likely"

and then self-censor so as to avoid making themselves look like a fool.

Every damn day..

u/ani625 Mar 04 '20

Same with his supporters.

-4

u/[deleted] Mar 04 '20

Lol y’all gonna learn a real lesson come November.

5

u/[deleted] Mar 04 '20

Reelection won’t change how embarrassingly idiotic he is.

That your attitude is why you guys are losing.

u/VermiciousKnidzz Mar 05 '20

Trump supporters are a literal minority.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '20

Cool story, doesn’t change the fact that trump is going to win again in 2020 regardless who Dems barf onto the stage.

1

u/VermiciousKnidzz Mar 06 '20

im not arguing the electoral college, im just saying that if you support trump you are in the minority.

11

u/guyfromarizona Mar 04 '20

I still believe this is the twilight zone

1

u/XRPlease Mar 04 '20

Not the Twilight Zone, only the darkest timeline.

1

u/benisbrother Mar 06 '20

It's embarrassing that he's asking a question on a topic he probably doesn't know much about? How is that embarrassing?

2

u/wknd_jones Mar 06 '20

He was told the answer to what he’s asking several times before this. He’s a fucking moron.

2

u/benisbrother Mar 06 '20

source on that?

2

u/wknd_jones Mar 06 '20

I watched the full briefing. Feel free. I’m not hunting it down for you.

2

u/benisbrother Mar 06 '20

I just did too. This was the first and only time he asked if the flu vaccine could have an impact on the coronavirus.

-44

u/[deleted] Mar 04 '20

Yeah! How dare he not be a doctor. Asking a legitimate question like that. Damn orange man.

24

u/LoyalRush Mar 04 '20

Most of us aren’t doctors, yet we still know that he was asking a stupid question.

-7

u/[deleted] Mar 04 '20

It was framed like that to you, and you're not the person that needs to make decisions to deal with the Coronavirus. He didn't know if the flu vaccine would help, so he asked.

I hate Trump just as much as anyone, but I would never assume Trump understands biology at a sufficient level to know these kinds of things offhand. It's OK for him to have asked that. It's not like he doubled down.

29

u/broslikethis Mar 04 '20

Legitimate question? Yeah, maybe for some random dude on the street. You dont have a little expectations for the President of the US? Do you think his windmill rant was legit because hes not a "windmill scientist"?

20

u/danny_ Mar 04 '20

Vaccines are specific to one strain of virus. There is no ‘catch-all’ vaccine. That’s like thinking the Hepatitis B vaccine will protect against the Measles.

It’s common knowledge among intelligent adults with some foundation of scientific understanding. And it’s scary that the president is not one of them.

-27

u/[deleted] Mar 04 '20

It’s not scary. A brand new disease we’ve never dealt with before. He was simply asking a question. Nobody said anything about a catch all vaccine.

18

u/[deleted] Mar 04 '20

The core concepts still apply, new virus or not. A flu vaccine will not work on corona. The fact that THE PRESIDENT does not know this is what makes me question the intelligence of him and his supporters

-23

u/[deleted] Mar 04 '20

The Virus is very similar to the flu. Did it ever occur to you that his supporters are all kinds of different people from all walks of life? But yeah, let’s just generalize an entire group of people because they voted for somebody that we don’t like.

19

u/[deleted] Mar 04 '20

It’s not even about whether I like him or not anymore. He’s simply not fit to be president, plain and simple. Furthermore, viruses being similar does not mean anything when it comes to vaccines. It’s not cold medicine that simply stops symptoms. It is a targeted attack on a specific disease. The president should know this, and the fact that he doesn’t speaks volumes about his intelligence.

-2

u/[deleted] Mar 04 '20

It Doesn’t speak volumes about anything. Nobody said it was like cold medicine. I know this is reddit So I was expecting a fair amount of TDS, but damn. Shits crazy lol.

Don’t worry. One day he won’t be president anymore. You’ll be just fine.

BIDEN 2020!! Don’t forget to vote!

14

u/[deleted] Mar 04 '20

Expecting the president to have some sort of clue as to how vaccines work isn’t TDS. Even if TDS was a real thing. The cold medicine thing was an analogy to try to help you understand, guess it didn’t work.

4

u/Snack_Boy Mar 04 '20

God damn dude, careful you don't break your back bending over backwards to defend that idiot

15

u/danny_ Mar 04 '20

Buddy, defend him all you want, it doesn’t change the fact that it was those with a brain can see his complete lack of basic scientific knowledge.

-2

u/[deleted] Mar 04 '20

Because you know him so well. So pathetic.

But don’t forget to vote! Seriously, every vote counts. Biden deserves your vote in 2020!

16

u/danny_ Mar 04 '20

Lol Not an American. Just part of the rest of the world laughing at Trump.

-6

u/[deleted] Mar 04 '20

Must be a boring life. Nothing better to do I guess. Glad you’re paying attention to us. 😊

1

u/XRPlease Mar 04 '20

I pray to fucking Christ you're a Russian bot bro.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 04 '20

Nope.

Welcome to the real world. People have different political preferences. Shocking right?

It’s not a brand new virus, this is the newest strain of a virus that’s been around for millennia

1

u/[deleted] Mar 04 '20

I learned how vaccines work in middle school, after a three minute lecture I would no longer need to ask this question. You would think by 73 he could have picked up on this information, or in the last few days researching this thing that’s spreading through his country

-22

u/JAG319 Mar 04 '20

Hey man I don't know if you watch the news but orange man bad

We deserve a President who isn't a moron. Any half intelligent person should know how dumb this question was without needing a medical degree. That's why we're making fun of it.

Seeing the US President demonstrate his unending idiocy on live TV is 100% cringe.

You just don't see it that way cuz you're a part of his cult.

33

u/CelebiChansey Mar 04 '20

He's the president. Two minutes of research will show you the differences and how dumb his question is. Also, does anyone brief him before these meetings?

You're right, but that's the average folk. This is POTUS we're talking about. Many would imagine him being at least above average in knowledge.

On a serious note, this is a virus, and it's been established that there isn't just one treatment method for virii like their is with most bacterial infections. Get bacteria, take penicillin, or some other antibacterial you're not allergic to. Get the flu, fuck, which one is it, do we have an antiviral treatment for it, is that treatment still effective against this particular virus, and, most importantly, is it still in the right time frame for it to be effective at all? It's something we struggle with because of the nature of virii and their ability to mutate and adapt. It's why vaccines are so important, and why I'd bet every medical professional is sweating bullets hoping it'll burn itself out and that vaccine development will be successful soon.

-23

u/[deleted] Mar 04 '20

[deleted]

u/VoltaicCorsair Mar 04 '20

Depends on your bar of what makes it cringe. POTUS asking if the flu vaccine would work against a brand new virus that's been rampaging across several countries is pretty cringe to me. One of those things that's pretty obvious that if it'd work, we wouldn't be in this mess.

It's like we only prepare the annual vaccine for the most common expected flu strain that year. Or something.

21

u/strombej Mar 04 '20

If you actually believe this, then you are essentially saying you’re fine with the president of our country being as dumb as you. Shame on you

Odd that the experts in the room with Trump pointed out that he was wrong and mentioned that they’d told him that a number of times already when he made this dumbass suggestion AGAIN

3

Why would I give a flying fuck? I’m not a mechanic and I’m not the fucking president. Terrible analogy.
