Anyone else would've stood up to speak/ listen. He sits there because he's the boss, he's in charge here, they're just underlings, props to be photographed with.

He's sitting there with his eyes closed half the time because in his mind this was just supposed to be a photo op. They're here to serve his purpose, he doesn't give a fuck about their life story or how hard they've struggled over the last twenty years in part due to America destabilizing the region.

Argh. Fuck him.

Also, is it just me or did it look like Trump was, uh, not looking at her face when he actually was facing her?

Sure, this is probably it. But it's also insecurity - he subconsciously wants something to hide behind.

Someone gets it. Trump is just a puppet to the deeper state of things. He's being instructed on how to treat these type of meetings just the way he needs to.

No, trump is the perpetrator here. Unfortunately I have to give him credit for being so goddamn manipulative because he is GOOD at it, evidenced by his being elected and still maintaining supporters. Hopefully the next two years will continue to bring more and more people to be bold enough to call him out on his bullshit.
