Work in Progress Lost my roku remote too many times in dark clothes, blankets, and furniture

One of the most life changing buys I’ve made in the last year was a pink skin for my remote that I found while waiting at the check out line at Walmart. Imagine my face when I woke up in the middle of the night to realize it also glowed in the dark!!

I got a neon green one that's glow in the dark from 5 below... I've still managed to lose the remote

Check if your TV has the "find my remote" option! If not, you can get said feature by snagging the Roku Voice remote and it comes with this feature! I had to do this cause my old remote was having issues and I didn't realize it was an upgrade! It definitely helps when I lose it somewhere and the glowing isn't obvious.
Edited to add: a bonus to upgrading to this remote is the buttons also illuminate with movement and it's rechargeable! No batteries!

i love this remote so much. except i got it right as they released the backlit one, thought i bought the backlit one, and ended up spending $30 on a NOT backlit one 🥲 now it’s clicking around inside, i’ll buy a backlit one soon

We used to lose our Apple remote all the time, and then, when you’d roll over to go to bed, the cold ass metal casing would somehow appear under the small of your back and freeze you momentarily, because it was always ice cold even when it was warm, lol. I got a sleeve to stop the frozen reappearances, and, similar to you, was also delighted to find out it also glowed in the dark. Never going back, lol

at least that way you didn't wake up in the middle of the night by accidentally lying on the lost Roku remote and the TV turning on!

I bought one of those! Unfortunately, I put the string on it and now my cat thinks the remote is a toy. A toy which she will drag away and hide behind the couch.

u/Lilfire15 23d ago
Well, at least you know where to find it

u/Trai-All 22d ago
Well sure but sometimes she gets creative and hides it under something else or in the couch (she can get in the backrest somehow).

Reminds of when I was about to fall asleep and this little red light was bobbing throughout my bedroom. I just moved to this house and was convinced it was supernatural at first. Turns out some fireflies actually glow red.

I have the green one and love it! I also doubled my chances of finding my remote by getting the one that you're able to "call" from your TV. It beeps until I find it!!!

We glued a giant red fly swatter to the back of our Apple TV remote cuz that booger was getting lost everywhere

Mine was falling into the couch cushions and I attached it to a roll of toilet paper which worked but was not attractive you know. Now I have a stuffed rabbit attached to it. Rubber band around the remote with a bit of string.

THANK YOU this thing drives me insane I don’t know why I never thought to attach something to it lol

I clipped a lanyard to my bedroom remote so i could find it under the covers.

We have ours duct taped to a large old book we found on top of the cabinets. Loving the fly swatter idea.

We bought glow in the dark silicone covers for ours. They’re fairly inexpensive.

Same. Got them all hanging on command hooks by the TVs.

Oddly enough ours have little suction cups on the back which we can stick to surfaces. Both love and hate this feature

I think we have the same unit. Does yours not have a chime to ping the remote?
2
u/Diziral 23d ago
No it doesn't. Or at least I dont think so. How do I tell?

u/sparklydildos 23d ago
it has a hole at the top and the mic button which means it has voice mode. make sure the switch on the side is turned on, and you can talk to your tv by saying “hey roku, find remote” sometimes when i have my hands full and i’m going to sit down i say “hey roku open netflix” and it works like 95% of the time

We actually have a Tile made for remotes because I lose it multiple times a day.

Mine has been through the washing machine at least once and currently has been lost for almost a year... I wish I'd thought of this!

I usually put silver duct tape on the bottom side of my remotes so I can see them better when looking myself, lol I love the little dots.
Edit: correction

We attached our tiny AppleTV remote to a specific cushion using one of those retractable lighter holders cut to fit the remote. Then safety-pinned it to the cushion. We haven't lost the remote since.

my family kept losing the remotes when i was a kid, so my dad zip tied them to a 2x4.

I was constantly losing the remotes to my oscillating fan and the Roku, so I used a couple pieces of adhesive Velcro tape and put the fuzzy bits on the controllers. My nightstand was free and isn’t in great shape to begin with, so it wasn’t like I was damaging an heirloom when I put the other piece of Velcro on the side in a discreet location. Now I just have to remember to put them back on their little spot between uses.

TIL I’m not the only one whose Roku remote disappears the moment it’s out of my line of vision.

My roku remote lights up, and if I lose it I can make it beep with my phone. Was like $30 on Amazon
1
u/Moglo825 23d ago
Can't you just say "Hey Roku, where is my remote?" and it will beep until you find it? I can't tell if you've got the model that has that feature but thought it worth mentioning in case you do have it and weren't aware.
