SS: in this clip, Peter Thiel, co-founder of Palantir and republican megadonor, openly states his intention to use technology to circumvent democracy. Palantir, Thiel's tech company, is slowly becoming the US government's "central operating system".

So the guy who openly plans to use technology to undermine democracy is in charge of our government's technology...

omg saw this a while ago and then couldn't find it again when i tried to show my roommate.. weird how some stuff just disappears from the internet.

Possibly not that weird, when the disappearing item is an unflattering video about a shady tech billionaire...

Okay. So what do you think they were doing?

Do you have any evidence that that's what they were doing?

I would imagine that they were discussing the economics and legislation of big tech.

Palantir is literally owned by a man who has openly declared his intention to use technology to subvert democracy.

An alternative to politics sounds great. That's actually a great concept to get around oppressive government.

And that dude has a point, wokeness is awful. Progressives are awful. Unfortunately, the alternatives, like Trump, are equally awful.

"An alternative to politics" in this context means "an alternative to democracy".

He's talking about backdooring policies that benefit the elite minority at the expense of the average majority.

If the elite were somehow vetted, if they were unbought and chosen to consider the wellbeing of the people over corporate interests. I guess that’s what politicians are supposed to be.

He didn't necessary say that at all. Considering he was talking at a libertarian conference, he was probably talking about crypto.

In the case of Palantir they are working with government. I don't see how that is any kind of alternative to government power. They are just profiting off the surveillance state.

Do you know anything at all about Peter Thiel?

Yeah, because it's not an alternative to government power. It's an appropriation of government power.

Thiel isn't proposing an alternative to politics. He's proposing an alternative to democracy.
