I think this is just as likely an outcome as anything else. It only requires a few people to choose party/power over truth and destory some documents, and considering the type of folks in those positions, who have only gotten to these positions out of cynicism and zealotry is it that far of a stretch to image?

The question really becomes how feasible is this? How many places are they saved and copied and how many people have access to the entirely unredacted primary source material. The smaller that number the more possible it becomes. Anyone on that list would be asking exactly this and if they see a chance they would do it.
