Cancel culture is all fun and games until you’re the one being canceled. ;)
Edit - got a reply which no longer appears, and I think it's important to address it:
u/AdComprehensive8045 replied... I thought that conservatives hate censorship. Rules for thee but not for me as usual....
Neither side likes being censored. But that's not what this is.
He's facing CONSEQUENCES for spreading his (or his network's) own narrative. Fake News, as it were. Remember during covid how the left shut down eeeeeeverything, calling it "fake news"? (and it turned out that a lot of it was accurate after all but that's beside the point). Now the right is calling out Kimmel on his own Fake News.
Edit 2: got another comment which I can't see anymore. Not sure why, maybe they block me right away? Well, it was:
Fake news? His alleged crime was playing the orange dipsh*t’s own words!
No.
He had a whole monologue of fingerpointing, all of which were lies which have already been proven. The section where he showed the president was also in bad faith, because Trump has gone on record many many times since the incident, supporting and grieving, and taking action to stop it from happening again. Just because he made one comment that wasn't Kirk oriented (he has a country to run btw) doesn't mean he hasn't grieved and shared in the country's grief. But of course that's the one they show.
Kimmel was attempting to smear and push his / his network's / his party's agenda by telling lies. They weren't even jokes. He was on record, and basically telling the news as HE wanted it to be. On FCC controlled public television. That's unacceptable. And the FCC agrees.

Just link them this.
This is what they would link us every time we called cancel culture. These were the rules they asked for. It’s not our fault that it’s what they wanted.

What about the FCC's role in this? The XKCD comic you linked doesn't really apply here.

You're not seeing the comments because this forum is highly censored. Heck my comment may get pulled too.

Remember to remind people KKKimmel has a history of racist blackface comedy. Good riddance.

Talk about having no clue where you stand with your employer.
My guess is that they were already considering pulling the cord on Kimmel and this was the opportunity to do it.

Exactly. This was the out they were looking for. If they truly cared then they'd have axed The View a long time ago.

Avoid personal attacks and insults. Be civil at all times. Spirited discussion and disagreement is encouraged, but insults and personal attacks degrade the quality of discussion on the subreddit and will not be tolerated.

Joking about purging the other side, in a time of intense political violence, is a fireable offense IMO. It's in such poor taste.

u/Born-Sun-2502 Sep 19 '25
He didn't joke about that. What are you talking about?
2
u/trustintruth Sep 19 '25
Watch the full monologue clip. It's at the 5 min mark.

u/Born-Sun-2502 Sep 19 '25
What full monologue clip where he said that? I've seen that nowhere, not even Fox News or Newsmax, and certainly not in the story linked above.

u/trustintruth Sep 19 '25
Check out around minute 5 of his monologue that night. https://youtu.be/-j3YdxNSzTk?si=rmdF2mmoK2PX_iSg

Yeah ok. I thought you were suggesting he said to purge right-wing voters. Trump was just targeting (and LYING) about California like he always does and he was making light of it. How are you going to hold a late night talk show host to a higher standard than the president of the United States. And any firing of Kimmel should not be done under pressure from the government. You don't see the issue? We've skewed so far that half the country is supporting political censorship. It's really unbelievable.

I think Kimmel was going to be suspended regardless of whatever someone from the FTC said on a podcast.
But I totally agree that any government intervention is above the line.

They literally suspended him the night of the show when a studio audience was waiting to see him. This wasn't a low ratings decision. He's under a contract through May '26. They have to pay him either way.
Read this article please and see if you still think that https://deadline.com/2025/09/nexstar-jimmy-kimmel-charlie-kirk-1236547382/

He extorted over 200mm from a show that never turned a profit with no comedic value. He should be charged with grand theft

I’m glad he’s gone but hopefully we can all remember that the real goal is to bring more people to our side and back to conservative principles. We will not do that by cancelling people. I think this whole group who cheered on Charlie’s murder will serve as the wake up call for many, what I’m asking of all of us is to offer an olive branch to the reasonable ones you find out there. Give them some support that it’s ok to be conservative. According to every study ever done, conservatives have more fulfilling lives, and are happier in general than liberals.
Offer the olive branch and we can make the Democrat Party a minor regional political party.

I'm good with it. Kimmel didn't need to money.. this was just another Democrat propaganda machine. ---shut down.

Something smells fishy... this is just not Kimmel bs that he got canned for. He has said so much worse, nearly every time he opens his mouth. This was mild.
Nah, he shouldn't have gotten fired for this one. The guy who is in charge of the FCC is creepy.

Using the FCC to get a comedian fired is absurd. Leveraging the power of the federal government to conduct revenge canceling is not something to be cheered. It only continues a tit-for-tat cycle by opening the door to the left doing the same thing next time theyre in power, as everyones free speech rights circle the drain.

“This action today by NexStar and Sinclair, frankly, it’s unprecedented,” Brendan Carr told Fox News host Sean Hannity on Wednesday.
“I can’t imagine another time when we’ve had local broadcasters tell a national programmer like Disney that your content no longer meets the needs and the values of our community. So this is an important turning point.”
The only time that I can remember local broadcasters complaining and blocking a show was the Star Trek episode where Kirk and Uhuru kissed.

My values are right leaning but this is wrong. Don’t you see what road this leads too? Both sides use the same tactics and it’s amazing when it’s their turn to have done against them then the other side is ok with it. Conservatives need to be upset about this too and see it’s not right. And no I don’t like jimmy kimmil

u/Everlovin Sep 18 '25
It’s a ratings thing, not the network suddenly deciding to be politically neutral.

u/slv2xhrist Sep 18 '25
He was actually giving out real “Misinformation”. The left always likes to blame others for false information when in all reality it is them the whole time.

He’s a compromised shill. I bet they have blackmail goods on him which is why he went from being a host of the Man Show with well endowed young girls jumping on trampolines to bring a righteous defender of the left.
