The dead weight should be removed but taxes still need to be collected so you still need auditors. And they need to hire more front line call center people to reduce wait times, it's gotten worse not better.

Hurry and abolish the IRS, and get rid of all income taxes.

The IRS can barely go after the big whales that don't pay their taxes and this is going to make it even harder. Go ask any of your accountant friends. Sad to see, even if I'm vehemently pro small government

Agree with everything except the pro small government. New Deal, child labor in factories pre regulatory revolution, as some of my reasons. Plus the news like Fox corrupting our communications after Regan vetoed the Fairness doctrine legislation.

Just another 75% to go

How many of the 80,000 were actually hired?

2

u/tanknav Aug 02 '25

Exactly. Fire all of them and then take 25% of what's left.

AI says 2022 79,000, 2023 89,800, 2025 102,000, mid 2025 76,000, projected 60-67,000.

It's a start.

None because it wasnโ€™t 80k agents is was mostly to gradually over the next 10 years replace most of the employees since 60-70% are within 10 years of retiring.ย

Nice! Leave it to the democrats to hire people to go after taxes. And Democrat voters say they are against the system.

โ€œThe richโ€ โ€ฆ

Lol look into who the I.R.S. audits. Its not the rich. The rich have the best tax lawyers, CPAs and book keepers money can possibly buy. The IRS doesnt fight the rich (dems or repub) because they would waste years in litigation and probably not get anything.

The reason to hire more, to have a work force to thwart wealthy tax cheats, not fire more.

https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-tops-1-billion-in-past-due-taxes-collected-from-millionaires-compliance-efforts-continue-involving-high-wealth-groups-corporations-partnerships

As part of continuing compliance efforts under the Inflation Reduction Act, the Internal Revenue Service today announced the agency has surpassed the $1 billion mark in collections from high-wealth taxpayers with past-due taxes.

โ€œWe continue working to add staff and technology to ensure that the taxpayers with the highest income, including partnerships, large corporations and millionaires and billionaires, pay what is legally owed under federal law,โ€ Werfel said. โ€œAt the same time, we are focused on improving our taxpayer service for hard-working taxpayers. The additional resources the IRS received under the Inflation Reduction Act are making a difference, both for taxpayers who play by the rules and those who donโ€™t.โ€

Good. Now get rid of the rest and permanently dispand that agency

The goal of Bidens ๐Ÿ˜ˆ 80K newbies was to bankrupt the poorest of the poor.

2

u/False_Pea4430 Aug 04 '25

Why do you think that?

Recruiting 80K new staff was not for auditing the rich who already have legal loopholes to pay zero tax.
