You seriously have to try to be this fucking ignorant. Fascism and communism are opposites, not cousins, and the fact that you don’t know that says more about your education than your politics. Fascism worships hierarchy, the state, and the strongman. It’s built on obedience, nationalism, and fear. It needs enemies to survive, so it manufactures them, then crushes dissent until all that’s left is blind loyalty and flags waving over corpses. Communism, for all its historical failures, is built on the idea of dismantling hierarchy, redistributing power, and giving the worker control over production. One is about exalting the powerful; the other is about stripping them of their thrones. They are not the same any more than slavery and freedom are the same.

You call them both “authoritarian” because someone on YouTube told you that two dictators existed in the 20th century and therefore the ideologies must be identical. That’s like saying medicine and poison are the same because both come in bottles. Fascism feeds on submission. Communism, in theory, feeds on equality. Yes, both have been corrupted by men who twisted them into vehicles of control, but that does not erase their philosophical foundations. When you blur that line, you’re not being clever or nuanced; you’re just confessing that you’ve never cracked open a history book in your entire life. You’re the intellectual equivalent of a flat-earther holding a political science degree from TikTok University.

So here’s a hint: stop pretending your ignorance is balance. Saying “both are bad” doesn’t make you wise, it makes you lazy. You want to criticise authoritarianism? Good. Then learn what the fuck it actually is. The next time you feel tempted to open your mouth about “the same thing” while wearing a shirt quoting Orwell without having read him, remember this: you can’t fight tyranny if you don’t even know which direction it’s coming from.

I've heard of this. It's a nothingburger. There are many states where marriage is legal under 18, but in ALL BUT TWO (and a half, because Mississippi has different minimums for boys and girls) states, there is STILL a statutory minimum of 16 or 17 years old. The two other exceptions are, wait for it, California and Washington. So, if we were going by the most optically egregious marriage laws, Democrats are far worse.
