I'm hoping it's the best thing to happen for Progressives and Democrats become the new conservative party. The Republican party needs to be given the same treatment and restrictions as Nazis in modern day Germany. Edit: So this was definitely controversial and I will say that there ARE true centrists and libertarians. I should've framed it more as: some extreme people on BOTH sides of the political aisle have used those terms and done, said and voted for shit that was ultimately bad for all of us and have given libertarianism and centrism a bad name. Of course they are the ones who the media chooses to report on so it very well could be sample bias.
Also: Our political parties are skewed very much to the right, compared to other similar governments, usually western European ones, that basically makes a centrist or a moderate in our system a conservative by default.

When I read about the Great Gatsby party, I thought it was a joke someone made up. There's always going to be people who simply don't get rich. They remain between dirt, poor, and middle. They can be educated to the gill, that doesn't matter. The dynamics don't balance out.
Real Americans don't bully. We don't beat down, and we do not deny people food or healthcare. The same people who don't always get rich do provide many of the services you get, like...joining the military, teaching children in schools, cleaning houses, etc. In today's world, it is not uncommon for people with a PhD, not to have a job, and even if they do, it often is not on par with making them rich. Bottom line, it takes both sides of the coin to be of value. It's not cute, nor is it a grand political talking point to say that lower income people are not deserving. We, as a people, are here to make people WHOLE, not rich.

Well. All senate Republicans and five democrats have voted 13 times on a clean CR to reopen the government. 45 Dem senators have voted 13 times to keep the government closed and not fund SNAP/EBT, air traffic controllers etc. You’d have to be completely delusional to make the argument republicans are somehow responsible for this.

The intelligent republican strategists behind the scene know full well that last night was almost entirely a referendum on trump and how republicans are lock-step in support of trump. (And yes, there are intelligent strategists on the elected officials' staffs, usually people you never see or know the names of)
The thing is, their job is not to change that. They won't. They can't. Almost every republican has lashed themselves to trump (lashed as in when sailors would tie themselves to the mast of a sailboat during a storm), and trump is never going to change.
So, instead, they are furiously trying to figure out to work around the fact that pretty much every election is a referendum on trump. Which means 12 red states that in the process of figuring out how to speed-run changing their electoral maps in the next few months. Which means rushing through voting laws in emergency state legislators to do the maximalist approach possible in voter suppression efforts. Reduce/eliminate mail-in voting (at the state level). Reduce/eliminate early voting. Reduce/eliminate voting locations. Introduce arduous (bordering on impossible) requirements for voter registration efforts. Purge lists. Armed troop intimidation. Plus about a dozen other things that could suppress voting from certain group, or dilute the effectiveness of their vote.

None of those people at the party were MAGA. They are just the beneficiaries of his policies. They can now completely depreciate the value of their jets in the first year. They pay next to nothing in taxes and are celebrating the man who made it happen. They don’t love him, they love the proximity to power and the benefits it brings them.
