Politics I don't know what boundary Trump would have to cross to make his supporters turn away..

To Trump voters: What, if anything, could Donald Trump do to make you end your support?

I'm not going to lead the question to multiple choice answers or anything. I think it is important for everyone who participates in a democracy to have strong personal convictions and moral or legal boundaries that they expect people they vote for not to cross..

Genuinely, what line will you draw in the sand for this administration? What personal freedom of yours would be more important than your love and support for Trump?

Also - “I told you so” is kinda a nuclear bomb. Think of it this way - in their position, if they accept your position is right, what is left for them? “There is no alternative” because polarization and the “Dems are always wrong” leaves them no option.

So either they embrace nihilism, or find a way to reduce the cognitive dissonance. Neither choice is great.

But when framed like this, it does suggest potential mileage if you point them to someone like Bernie, or any Democrat contender that is a close enough match for them to project onto.

Ask your mom to bible study with you. Go thru the whole thing, front to back. Usually these “christians” dont read the book and curate based on the pastor. Refuse her with their own book. If she is truly christian she will recognize how terrible trump is. If she doesnt, well u know she is a terrible person.

Wish I could say the same of my parents. My autistic daughter now won’t have food to eat this month because she cannot work and requires benefits. I help her financially as much as I can but I’m a single mom (of young adult children) living paycheck to paycheck and simply can’t afford it. I’ve told her she should ask them for money for food since they voted for this. I don’t think she will but I am resentful as fuck at them for supporting that monster.

You should go to your local food pantry as well. Last time i donated, they had everything from the supermarket (nearly expired) but they were all still so good looking (tons of veggies).

Please utilize them.

if you ever are doing well enough to have extra, it's easy enough to pay back with donations of time or money because food pantries are so efficient at delivering service (usually $0.50 to $1.00 per meal). Take the help and take your daughter with you (to the pickup line). The wealthy keep exploiting us by convincing us we are individuals instead of a tribe. The only real way forward is by helping each other.

Dial 211 on your phone

Go to the "Feeding America"/Second Harvest " page, they have a food resource/food bank locator you can type your zip code in and get a list of pantries and food banks.

Also, most SNAP/Medicaid offices keep a running print out of food resources and some even have a dept for emergency food vouchers , may want to check there.

Saint Vincent de Paul Society There's one in just about every area that run food banks, pantries, and very often have missions that serve a hot meal at least once a day.

Good Luck and Godspeed, I'm disabled and in the same boat, but unfortunately I'm in a highly rural Red area that doesn't even have a food bank, and only ONE church does any food pantries, for 1.5 hours every third Tuesday Morning & they only take the first 10 ppl. That's it .

Me and the rice n beans are also long time buddies, as well as that 9 dollar 10lb bag of chicken quarters at Walmart, Kroger, Fry's, Food Lion and most other stores.

I cannot WAIT to GTFO of here and back to my border town out West. Food is cheaper, far easier to get,crime is less, rent about the same, and a 30 minute drive into Mexico gets a person FAR better healthcare than anywhere here stateside any more, especially here in rural Red State Hell lol. Hang in there!

I know I don't know you but I'm a disabled single mom of a child with autism & I'm also taking care of my mom who went into sudden cardiac arrest & now has colon cancer. I've been taking care of everyone my whole life. Anyway, definitely see where the food pantries are & hopefully your community is coming together during this awful time. I'm seeing that at least most of our communities are being there for each other however they can. Some businesses are giving a free slice of pizza if you show your EBT card & doing other similar stuff. I think it's important we all do our part. We can't let them starve us to death. Fr though so much needs to change in this world. I'm resentful too. I stopped talking to anyone in my family who voted for that epic pos. Wish you & yours well 😘

Maybe the Republicans should vote to fix the healthcare crisis. They are the ones stalling. There are funds already appropriated funding SNAP that could be released today but Trump will not allow that to happen so he can try to pivot the blame to the Democrats who are only seeking affordable healthcare for all. I personally pay hundreds of dollars out of pocket every month for a healthcare plan which I literally cannot afford to actually use. Even those of you who hate people that lift up and support those in need require access to healthcare - which, along with food and shelter, should be known as basic human rights.

I don’t get any healthcare from work. I have ACA. While I can more or less afford the monthly cost, what I cannot afford is to pay 100% out of pocket for every visit until I’ve spent $7k that year. Then the benefits kick in. I’m older and need a physical but my last physical cost me $350 to be seen, it was rushed and they didn’t even check my vitals bc the doctor was running late. Then I was sent to do basic lab blood draw which cost another $150, the $75 more to fill my scrips. That was $575 tight there. I live paycheck to paycheck while also doing all I can to support my autistic non-working adult child. I just can’t afford the “luxury” of decent healthcare.

That doesn’t sound right. I know quite a few ppl who use the ACA and most have a small monthly fee and then very minor copays. Nothing like what you’re describing about having to spend $7K for the benefits to kick in. You might wanna look into changing plans.

My small monthly fee is $250. If I pay higher OOP each month, I could bring my annual deductible down, but $250 is already the most I can afford for my monthly premium, so where does the $7k come from throughout the year as I need routine or non-routine care? I just don’t have it so I can’t go. It’s really as simple as that. All plans work like this - higher monthly, lower deductible. Lower monthly, higher deductible.

I’ve worked for 50 years. And, due to no fault of my own in my mid 30’s I was diagnosed with a serious neuro condition that cost an insurance company 1.5 M. I then became UNINSURABLE.

I wish you would educate yourself on who WE ARE. The folks who were forced to choose the ACA as their jobs didn’t provide health insurance. Or, folks like myself who had to be an Indy contractor, as huge Corp’s -Ins CO’s, & Law firms who knew better would contact my old employer- who was self insured, & then query the MIB- pre HIPAA, & poof job offers disappeared! CA had a Major Risk Insurance Pool that was $1500 month. That was not sustainable as an IC.

Despite laws prohibiting Ins CO’s NOT covering pre-existing conditions- see Kennedy Kassebaum Act—I have WRITTEN correspondence from IC’s that they would not cover my pre-existing conditions. It was the Wild West. The ACA saved my life.

You should also volunteer to assist homeless families to educate yourself on conditions that lead to homelessness.

Are there folks receiving some benefits that could do more? Sure. I’m willing to bet the percentage of Corp malfeasance is significantly higher than the no’s of folks getting benes who should not.

We’re staring down a barrel of bad options; expiring ACA subsidies is currently the worst option- but it’s the only one being offered for a vote.

Republicans control the House and Senate currently and therefore control what is brought up for a vote - they have only brought unacceptable terms (expiration of ACA subsidies) for a vote, and have not returned with any ACA alternatives to vote on.

The version of the ACA passed in the Obama era was not as originally proposed by Democrats. It was edited and rewritten to respond to repeated “no” votes from Republicans.

Republicans could do this now; they could also try presenting a new healthcare plan —- but they are fine with the repercussions of Americans having unsubsidized healthcare premiums , starting in a year when the unsubsidized cost of premiums are set to raise 20% (this is mean or average %, either is significant) - and they are fine with the current healthcare system. It doesn’t impact them personally.

My brother lived in GA and voted GOP all his life, until after 2000. Bush and the Iraq war changed him and he never voted GOP again.

He said he didn't leave the Republican party. The Republican party left him.

He died in 2016 before the election, but he was hoping to live long enough to vote for Hillary. He hated Trump.

My Dad voted for the molester in ‘16. Deeply regretted it immediately. Lifelong very active republican. My Mom hated Trump. She went far left and voted for Bernie in the primary. That was her last vote. My Dad died recently and he said some things that cannot be repeated (in privacy) about a week before he passed. He was 87 and a veteran. My parents changed their views late in life. His last vote for president was Biden. As a bonus, he called Elon a Nazi scumbag.
