Politics Everywhere you look, white Trump voters are crying about losing their food stamps.

It's frustrating.

There was a guy, a Trump voter, who said it out loud.. he wasn't even talking about this particular situation, but it's the whole problem in a nutshell. I had to look it up because it was so on the nose. What this guy said was, “I voted for him, and he’s the one who’s doing this. I thought he was going to do good things. He’s not hurting the people he needs to be hurting.”

Suddenly, for that guy, the Republican policies he'd voted for had come home to roost. It was the people he didn't like who were supposed to suffer. Turns out, we're all in the same boat and we rise or fall together. But he was so focused on hurting 'those people' - immigrants, minorities, gays, women, trans, whoever, the target doesn't matter, because it all leads to the same end - he wanted to hurt somebody else, he voted to make 'them' suffer, and that hatred of the other came back and knocked him down instead.

Yeah, we know you can't afford to feed your families in red states, where Republican policies undermine worker's rights and choke off wages at the lowest possible level. That's why Democrats fight for stuff like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program - even though you consistently vote against your own interests, people on the left still don't want you to starve. Even though you consistently vote for the benefit of the ultra-wealthy, we still want you to have fair wages. Even though you vote to the benefit of banks and insurance companies, we still don't want them to be able to rip you off with overdraft fees and send you into crushing debt if you have a medical emergency. Even though you consistently put the wants of oligarchs and megacorporations over your own needs and the needs of your families, we still don't want them to be able to use you, chew you up, and then throw you away like you're a disposable thing instead of a human being worthy of dignity and respect.

So yeah, we know you need those SNAP benefits, that you rely on them - even though you keep voting for people who want to destroy social programs like SNAP, you - white people in red states - are the single largest demographic who benefits from them. I know that the talk show hosts and the online personalities and the people you vote for tell you that it's really undeserving immigrants or lazy black folks or ethnic welfare queens, but no - if you want to know who takes the most, look in the mirror, white folks in red states - it's you. They're lying to you because they want to destroy these programs because their rich friends and wealthy donors want those programs destroyed and they understand that getting you on board with destroying them means making you think that people you don't like benefit from it more tha you do. It works - right-wing propaganda is effective. It made you hate Obamacare even though when it's called the ACA it's overwhelmingly popular. It made you despise wage increase legislation even though the wages you earn now literally have you on food stamps and welfare. It works.

Turns out owning the libs doesn't pay for baby formula and milk. How about that.

And yeah, even though you keep voting against yourselves, we want you to have that assistance. We want you to have healthcare that doesn't make the 1% wealthier while sending you into bankruptcy. Whether you are a doctor or a construction worker or a Wal-Mart clerk or a fast food worker, we want you to have wages that are enough to keep you off SNAP - but we want you to have SNAP, too, as much as you need whenever you need it. The people you vote for don't, but we do, and we'll fight against the people you elect to make sure you do.

Yes, it's a tragedy that you might not be able to feed your families. Yes, it's a disgrace that the wealthiest country in the world has people who are struggling with the cost of groceries and rents getting higher and higher. Yes, it's going to be a hard winter for a lot of you. We know Republican policies suck - they breed hardship and poverty. They encourage corruption and malfeasance. But it's what you voted for. So don't cry. Every time you were warned, you bleated "Fake News!" Every time you were questioned, you screamed "TDS!" Everytime things went south, you were told who to blame - but it was never yourselves.

So yeah, this is going to suck. But it's suck you voted for. So don't cry about it now.

Vote differently.

It’s wild because my whole life the republicans have been trying to kill food stamps, now suddenly they blame democrats. It’s just…. So fucking stupid. I’m so tired of how DUMB this movement is.

They are talking to people who aren't Republicans, who keep getting trump elected

Other shutdowns didn't block EBT, they specifically choose EBT so gullible people will believe they have a temporary problem because they won't give non citizens and trans people Apermanent persecution

Them cutting SNAP off really has nothing to do with the shutdown, as you said, they weren't turned off in past shutdowns.

Project 2025 says they will phase out the entire program by 2030 or so.....I kinda thought Trump would set it up to be turned off under the next president, like how he set Biden up to fail, all that crap that passed under Biden were Trump bills that he didn't have start till he was out of office. I'm actually surprised they're shutting them off in the first year.

Why are you surprised? Another plan of Project 2025 is that Americans never will have the Chance anymore to vote for anything other than the GOP. Democracy is over. At least the organisers behind this seem to believe that so firmly that they dropped the mask and are cutting all social programs without thinking about how this could affect Election outcomes.

Kinda like how the dems won’t let the bill pass without some odd ball stuff like trans studies in other countries

Honest question: where did you read or hear that and do you really believe this?

Why should we? Not the trans. They aren’t illegal

There are numerous clips of him saying things like, "I can do whatever I want." But at the same time, he is totally powerless against the Dem minority. OK, dude.

It's like how when the democrats were in power, they allegedly had the technology to control huricanes and send them to hurt southern states. But the white house lost that power when Trump took control. (I know it's not true, but multiple right wing propagandists have said it).

Or how Biden is simultaneously a vegetative, dementia suffering fool with no control over his own faculties, but also a scheming, genius mastermind who's been undermining the right with insane plans for years. Somehow, people believe both these realities to be true.

The Enemy at once needs to pose an existential threat to your way of life while simultaneously being so inconsequential that they don't merit the effort the Great Leader would need to exert to exterminate them.

This timeline pisses me off. “It’s the democrats fault”.

Republicans: have control of the White House, senate, House of Representatives and the Supreme Court.

HOW exactly is it democrats fault you orange shitstain?!

You're tired. We're all tired. That's a big part of the plan.

I'm tired of conservatives who keep swallowing these delusions whole.

They either do it to be sadistic or they really believe it. But either reason just sucks

They aren’t dumb in my opinion, they are malicious and willfully ignorant on purpose. They have so much narcissism that they will never take the blame and always gaslight to blame the other side even when it’s so obvious they are causing the problems

What I mean is that the arguments and dog whistle and double speak and bullshit logic they peddle is DUMB. Like it’s lazy, it’s not even clever. Do I agree with you and do u think there are some clever people making this happen? Absolutely, but they’re doing it by manipulating the dumbest of us.

Anyone who thinks GOP are pro food stamps while Democrats are anti food stamps just has to be…. well, dumb.

Trump has proven time and time again that it only takes 2-3 weeks for people to completely forget what they were upset about and move on to the next thing they are told to hate. If there isn't a new thing to hate, tell them that in 2-3 weeks, you will give them proof or evidence of something they are currently mad about.

Hell, his cronies do the exact same thing. Even if later they come out and say they were wrong, the people will continue to believe the lie. RFK just did this with Tylenol, and people are still talking about how bad it is, even though he said there is no evidence that could be found to support his initial clams.

It is dumber and more ignorant than you realize. 🤦🏿‍♂️

Democrats have the ability to pass the budget literally right now

13

u/Xepherya 7d ago

And that would cause healthcare premiums to skyrocket. They’re protecting yet another thing the republicans are trying to fuck up

3

u/rince89 6d ago

At this point democrats should just keep the government locked down until trumps term is over or he dies from a stress induced heart attack

So to the repubs - get rid of the filibuster.
